Indian designer Vaishali Shadangule took over The Gallery at the Dream Downtown on Friday, September 8th, to present her self-branded Vaishali S. collection at New York Fashion Week.
Shadangule produced a serene, down-to-earth show with Indian influenced music and Indian inspired outfits.
Her natural-toned dresses were handmade with either jute, cotton, chiffon, and mixed with traditional Indian elements. There was a lot drapery which took influence from the Indian sari, and was crafted with floral elements that added texture and were seen on many designs.
The Mumbai based brand stuck to their roots when creating silhouettes mirroring Indian garments, but made them appealing to a Western audience.
Vaishali gave her gowns a creative, signature twist, layering and wrapping them in unexpected places.
