Simon & Schuster will publish A Child’s First Book of Trump on July 12.
The book is written by comedian, actor, and writer, Michael Ian Black who starred in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, and wrote the screenplays for Run, Fat Boy, Run, and Wedding Daze. In January, he released his memoir Navel Gazing. A Child’s First Book of Trump is meant to parody Donald Trump’s run for president. It reads:
The beasty is called an American Trump.
Its skin is bright orange, its figure is plump.
Its fur so complex you might get enveloped.
Its hands though are, sadly, underdeveloped.
The book turns a humorous eye toward what has become a media frenzy over Trump’s rise to leading the Republic primary. To date, Trump has earned the support of 736 delegates, of the 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination. Although Trump’s campaign may seem absurd to some like Black, it is clear by the support Trump has received that some people feel he would best represent their interests. Black’s book is geared toward parents, but it is no doubt meant to educate children who are also exposed to the media coverage of the election.
