HBO released a new promo for the highly anticipated 6th Season of Game of Thrones on March 28.
Tyron Lannister warns, “Are you afraid? You should be. You’re in the great game now. And the great game is terrifying. ” Like the previous trailers released for the upcoming premiere, the promo features flashes of everybody’s favorite, and least favorite, characters and the chaos unfolding in Westeros. Last season, we left Arya being punished with blindness after crossing Ser Meryn off her list, Daenerys being found by another khalasar with her black dragon Drogon, Jon Snow killed by his own brothers in the Night’s Watch, and Sansa escaping from Ramsay with none other than the remnant of Theon Greyjoy, who betrayed her family in the past. In the promo, we see Danaerys making her way back toward the cities she once freed. Brienne seems to be fighting but we’re not shown whom or what. Most notably, Bran, who we left with the Children of the Forest, north of The Wall, is standing looking around, and sees the leader of the White Walkers behind him.
The 5th season of the show ran through most of the fifth book of the series, A Dance with Dragons, and perhaps to the relief of those who haven’t read the books, readers may be just as in the dark as the rest of us as to what’s ahead. HBO is currently challenging fans to #GOT50, a countdown of seasons 1-5 before the 6th season premieres April 24.
