Australian artist announced the release of her self-titled album ‘TKAY’ for end of October.
Tkay Maidza is a Zimbabwe-born, Australia-raised musical superstar up-and-comer. Her debut albumΒ TKAYΒ is set for release on October 28, 2016.
The artist teased the album with the drop of a promo single “Carry On” featuring half of Run The Jewels β Killer Mike.Β On βCarry On,β Maidza fires off on her haters and lets loose a whiplash delivery that deftly sets the stage for a head-turning guest verse from Killer Mike who publicly declared himself a Tkay fan multiple times throughout 2015 – first live on air in an interview on Australiaβs triple j where he stated after seeing her performance; “I saw her perform at one of the festivals – she’s dope man, shout out to her. She’s a great human being and a dope performer too. Shout outs mama, you dope. She is dope!”
βThe song is about people trying to stop my stride,β says Tkay, βbut I guess what I’m trying to say is I have bigger issues that only matter to me as a youngin at this point in my career and Killer Mike is reinforcing that. Iβve loved Run the Jewels for ages as they were the first act I saw at my favorite touring festival Laneway Festival. It was super inspiring to see them.Β We had the idea of having him on a song and reached out to his team, they were totally down. It turned out to be βCarry Onβ :)β
