The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces Nominees
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the nominees for 2016. Eligibility for nomination requires an individual artist or band to have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. 2016 nominees had to release their first recording no later than 1990. Ballots are going to be sent to an international voting body of more than 800 artists, historians and members of the music industry.
Fans will be offered the opportunity to officially participate in the induction selection process, starting October 8 and continuing through December 9, 2015. Fans can visit rockhall.com to cast votes for who they believe should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The top five artists selected by the public, will constitute a “fans’ ballot” that will be tailed along with the other ballots to choose the 2016 inductees. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 inductees will be announced in December.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 inductions are presented by Klipsch Audio will be held in New York in April 2016 and the ceremony will be presented by HBO later in 2016. Venue and ticket sale information will be announced at a later date. All inductees will ultimately be represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, the nonprofit organization that tells the story of rock and roll’s global impact via special exhibits, educational programs and its library and archives.
The museum is open seven days a week from 10am to 5:30pm and on Wednesdays the museum is open until 9p.m. Admission for adults is $22, $18 for adult residents of Greater Cleveland, $17 for seniors (65+), $13 for youth (9-12), children under 8 are free. A 6% admission tax that goes to support Cleveland Metropolitan Schools is added to each ticket at purchase.
