In honor of its 200-year legacy, The Macallan hosted an exclusive VIP event at The Macallan Villa in Los Angeles, marking the launch of the TIME : SPACE Collection. The evening showcased not just the brand’s history but its forward-looking vision, blending craftsmanship, innovation, and the natural world.
At the heart of the celebration was an exclusive tasting of TIME : SPACE Mastery, a distinctive single malt that embodies 200 years of whisky-making mastery through 14 cask types. This one-of-a-kind single malt captures the breadth of The Macallan’s warehouse inventory, incorporating European and American Oak sherry-seasoned casks, American Oak Bourbon casks, and refill casks. The result is a whisky rich in layers of flavor and complexity, embracing The Macallan’s 200-year history. Guests at the event, including actor Jesse Metcalfe and tastemaker Miles Ritchie, were treated to an immersive experience. The Macallan Villa was adorned with stunning red spike installations, representing the brand’s bicentennial as well as multi-level bars where guests were treated to a variety of specially curated cocktails that complemented the event’s theme.
Kirsteen Campbell, The Macallan’s Master Whisky Maker, described the unique opportunity to blend these past and future whiskies saying, “It was an absolute privilege to be able to reach back in time and select stock from the 1940s to honor and celebrate our 200-year anniversary. As a Whisky Mastery Team, our roles are unique in the sense that we get to time travel—selecting whisky from the past crafted by our predecessors while laying down casks for future generations.”

The TIME : SPACE Mastery vessel, created through cutting-edge engineering and traditional craftsmanship, is displayed in an oak sculpture crafted from alternating layers of American and European oak—a nod to the brand’s commitment to sherry-seasoned casks. The circular vessel represents the circle of life, embodying the passage of time from the past to the future.
The first release, TIME : SPACE, is presented in a dual-chamber vessel. The outer chamber holds the oldest whisky ever released by The Macallan: an extraordinary 84-year-old single malt from 1940, matured in meticulously selected American and European Oak casks. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, this whisky offers a rich and long-lasting flavor, with a depth and complexity that speaks to its rare age. The second chamber holds a whisky from the brand’s new distillery—a 2018 vintage that represents The Macallan’s future. This younger single malt captures the brand’s commitment to maintaining the signature quality that has defined The Macallan for centuries.
Jaume Ferràs, The Macallan’s Creative Director, shared the significance of such a unique and remarkable event stating, “The introduction of TIME : SPACE Collection is an incredible way to pay respect to our 200th anniversary by celebrating the significance of those who have come before us, yet it is also a symbol of anticipation of what is to come, as we build upon our heritage and look to times ahead.” With only 200 bottles of TIME : SPACE in existence—one for each year of The Macallan’s history—this collection represents a milestone in the world of whisky, offering a rare glimpse into both the brand’s illustrious past and its promising future.
