The Global Lyme Alliance Gala successfully raised $1.6 million for Lyme and tick-borne disease research and awareness.
TV Host Rosanna Scotto, Singer Debbie Gibson, Actot Christopher Meloni, and NJ Housewife Dolores Catania and many more showed their support for the important and essential GLA organization.
Singer Debbie Gibson who has dealt with the ups and downs of the disease for the past decade, vulnerably opened up and advised anyone going through the same thing to, “stay diligent and stay positive.” The singer explained that when she was diagnosed, she did a whole “life reset.” She became “diligent all the time about food, chemicals and toxic people.” The singer explained: “I’m pretty protective about my space and energy and that’s probably been the biggest healing factor.”
Christopher Meloni’s family has also been affected by the disease. The actor praised the brand for being “like a safe haven, an island. It gave us community, my wife and I.” He vulnerably shared that battling the disease is like a “bear-knuckle fight and you need to know that there are people out there that will support you,” just like GLA did for them.
“This year, the GLA honored Kenzie Vath, a Lyme warrior, devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated hotelier, for her remarkable contributions towards raising both funds and awareness for this relentless disease. Additionally, the GLA introduced a new award for the first time this 2023, generously sponsored by philanthropists Bob and Karen Kelly, which is designed to celebrate the heroic endeavors of family members who serve as medical advocates and play an indispensable role in navigating the medical system during this battle, alongside the patients themselves.”
The evening was impactful, positive and hopeful for those who are personally affected or know someone who is. Singer Debbie Gibson’s engaging and charismatic performance confirmed that she is finding joy and peace, regardless of the disease, and is leading the room as a beautiful inspiration for all.
