The event took place at the W New York and helped raise money money to benefit Eli Kulp’s rehabilitation.
The Annual Taste of Tennis Gala took place on August 27, and was hosted by World Doubles Champions the Bryan Brothers. Celebrities from tennis and the kitchen attended the tasting experience to mingle and sample tasty morsels from New York’s most prestigious chefs. Other tennis stars who attended the event included John Isner, Victoria Azarenka, Eugenie Bouchard, and Gael Monfils. Other guests included Andi Dorfman of the Bachelorette, Serena Williams, who donned a sporty LBD and Nikes, and of course, her sister Venus Williams.
Venus came not only as a sports enthusiast, but also a culinary enthusiast as she showed off her cooking skills. She threw on an apron and headed into the kitchen for a live cooking demo with celebrity chef Marc Murphy. Culinary stations were set up throughout the area for guests to taste dishes from some of the best chefs around, including Jonathan Waxman from Jams, Alfred Portale from Gotham Bar & Grill, Daniel Holzman from The Meatball Shop, Ilan Hall from The Gorbals and more. A portion of proceeds of the event went to Eli Kulp, a beloved Philadelphia chef who was paralyzed in the recent Amtrak train derailment.
