Daiya Foods hosted a first-of-its-kind pop-up slice shop called Slice Club in New York City.
plant-based
On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Hart House opened their third location on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood, California.
Way more than fast food, the restaurant’s craveable menu features plant-based burg’rs, chick’n sandwiches, salads, nuggets, fries, tots, and milkshakes.
Hart House develops its own patties (no Beyond or Impossible here), with prices that range from $5.99 to $7.99, and combos under $15, which is shockingly affordable.
And here’s the kicker – all items are 100% plant-based with no cholesterol, antibiotics, hormones, artificial colors, preservatives, high-fructose corn syrup, or trans fats.
In honor of the opening, Hart House launched the Summer Lovin’ menu, which introduces three new items – Smoky BBQ Burg’r, Nashville nuggets, and Hart House lemonade – across all three locations for a limited time.
Founded by multihyphenate Kevin Hart, Hart House’s mission is to make plant-based food accessible to everyone and anyone. The Hollywood location’s current community spotlight partner is the Assistance League of Los Angeles (‘The League’) as they both strive toward creating a happy, healthy community for all.
The Hart House team took a shuttered McDonald’s and reconfigured it into a modern quick service restaurant featuring the chain’s first-ever drive-thru, along with a 24-seat dining room and a 16-seat patio.
In keeping with a commitment to highlight their team made up entirely of women of color, Hart House partnered with Kai Williams of Studio 7 Design Group, Nicolette Santos, and Olivia Sawai (known for her Starbucks’ murals) to create the restaurant’s artistic design.
You’ll see works of art at every turn, whether it’s the iconic ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ neon sign just inside the restaurant’s main entryway or the eye-catching mural along the drive-thru wall. Talk about an Instagrammable moment!
We at The Knockturnal had the chance to attend a tasting featuring the Summer Lovin’ menu, with a blend of vegan and non-vegan eaters. The consensus was a resounding agreement: if they didn’t know it was plant-based, they wouldn’t know – especially when it came to the milkshakes, which are thick, creamy, and delicious.
The latest activation from Hart House was ‘Hart and the City,’ an interactive scavenger hunt highlighting minority-owned businesses with shared values and accessible practices. One special winner will secure a VIP experience with none other than the man himself, Kevin Hart.
Hart House Hollywood is located at 6800 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90020. Hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with the dining room closing at 8:00 p.m. You can find the other two locations in Westchester and Monrovia, both of which opened in 2022, with a fourth location right by USC set to open this week.
Head on over to Hart House USC on Wednesday, June 21, at 3726 S Figueroa, Los Angeles, CA 90027, between 11:45 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., for opening day festivities. Community spotlight partner LA Promise Fund will receive 10% of the day’s proceeds. Plus, add a free cookie to any combo meal for an exclusive ‘House Special.’ Tell them Kevin sent you!
