Celebrating her 20th anniversary, this season Tracy Reese teamed up with Cantu Beauty Products.
Tracy Reese unveiled her spring/summer 2018 collection during New York Fashion Week. The event took place at Pier 59 Studios and was full of fabulous hair moments from models and guest alike. “The inspiration for this show is individual beauty and what the women themselves bring to the clothes” Reese exclaimed. Cantu creates ultra-nourishing beauty products that allow your authentic beauty to shine. Sharing this aesthetic made Cantu x Tracy Reese the perfect match. I got the chance to join all the backstage magic and speak with one of my favorite key hair stylist, Bok-hee.
Check out what she had to say about using Cantu Beauty Products and working with Tracy Reese.

-What was it like using Cantu Beauty Products?
“They are such a great product line. The inspiration was very care free. So what we did was use the co-wash all over the hair to give it a clean fresh look. Then we use the thermal shield to give the hair a more finished look. So if the ends were fried or if the ends were a little bit dry we just used a bit in our hands and ran it through the hair. Then we blow-dried it, or curled it, or gave it whatever it needed. After that, we used the edge stay gel and just put it in the hair so it feels like they’ve been running around a bit, a little sweaty, and a little cool. That was the idea and why we used the Cantu products that way.”

Step 2: Next, spray hair with Cantu Thermal Shield Heat Protectant and blow hair out smooth using a round brush.
Step 3: Once hair is smoothed out, use a 1 ½ inch curling iron to create subtle curls at the lengths. When finished, loosen up the curls with your fingers for a more subtle wave.
Step 4: Lastly, mold hairline around the part and face using Cantu Extra Hold Edge Stay Gel to stand up slightly.

Every year New York Fashion Week debuts budding designers in their Spring/Summer 2018 Runway shows.
Shortly after the designer’s debut AW17 collection in February, Nina Tiari showcased her first Spring Summer collection at New York Fashion Week this Sunday.
Indian designer Vaishali Shadangule took over The Gallery at the Dream Downtown on Friday, September 8th, to present her self-branded Vaishali S. collection at New York Fashion Week.
Fashion has always been a platform for political expression, and in today’s tense social climate, it is more important than ever for fashion designers to promote multiculturalism by elevating the voices of marginalized designers and bringing diversity to the table.
KÛR Presents at NYFW S/S ’18
Sri Lankan designer KÛR’s sprung into her first fashion week presentation with serene Spring / Summer looks that explored all ranges of femininity. KÛR accentuates her signature and traditional hand made Beeralu lace in a series of ruffles, pants, and skirts.
“I launched this label in 2009 and rather than taking a short cut, we took the harder way to do that. I incorporated hand crafted lace, which is not very easy,” says KÛR’s Kasuni Rathnasuriya. “It’s a dying craft, specifically in Sri Lankan. As a kid I never thought I would incorporate as such a big element in fashion [after seeing it as a kid growing up].”
The clothes are all hand made in Sri Lanka. Each piece has volume, delicate knitting, and contains lace ruffles. You’ll see different collars and shirts for both feminine and masculine types–each have a romantic element.
“Our clothes are a labor of love,” Rathnasuriya shares. “People are moving towards fast fashion but our customer understands they need to spend their money on something valuable, ethically made, and that’s sustainable.”
The ready-to-wear collection has been inspired by Rathnasuriya’s travels. The side strips on her pants are inspired by street-fashion, which she’s seen much of in sweat pants. She created a dress pant, with side strips, and added ruffles to day-wear.
The woman wearing KÛR is strong, confident, and likes to stand out. It’s suited to a person of all ages who understands the value of art and craftsmanship.
Besides elaborating on hand-embroidery in her pieces, KÛR also collaborated with Tokyo-based print artist Mitsushige Nishiwaki to create a white graphic T-shirt, to create an “urban dimension” in her collection.

Sechs Element opened fashion week with a sustainable runway show featuring international up-and-coming designers who used recycled resources to create phenomenal looks.
