Midtown Manhattan just got a lot more fun. Manhattan’s Hudson Yards has never had a shortage of fun things to look at, between the Vessel, the massive bee hive like structure that can be seen from blocks away, and the Edge, one of the city’s highest observation decks, but now there’s an all new attraction that adds so much life to the area. CityPickle is New York City’s home for the country’s fastest growing sport, and is a part “of Power Hour at the Backyard” at Hudson Yards, and will be presented by Wells Fargo. From now until October 31st, city goers will have the opportunity to receive lessons, purchase merchandise, or just bring their friends along to play!
The fun thing about pickle ball is it can be enjoyed by pretty much everyone. The sport is adaptable to those of all ages or skill levels, and it combines the skills of tennis, ping-pong and badminton. It’s fast paced, exciting, and a great workout, and can be enjoyed by up to 4 people! It’s the perfect post work activity, exercise, or just fun way to spend a day.
CityPickle at Backyard at Hudson Yards will be open Monday-Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free 1-hour court reservations are available by visiting the CityPickle website City-Pickle.com. CityPickle custom paddles are available to rent for $10 per paddle, or players are welcome to bring their own. In addition, hour-long clinics taught by USA Pickleball Manhattan Ambassador Katherine Hedden are available for $100 per hour and can be booked by visiting the website.
Fancy Drinks and even Fancier Views at the New Rooftop Bar Nubeluz atop the Ritz Carlton New York, NoMad
Inside the new rooftop bar Nubeluz at the Ritz Carlton New York, NoMad
Set your sights straight to the 50th floor of the Ritz Carlton New York, NoMad where world-renowned Chef José Andrés opened a new cocktail bar that is just dying to be your next Insta background. Aptly named Nubeluz – a portmanteau of the Spanish words “nube” and “luz” for cloud and light, respectively – the rooftop bar is an electrifying 21st-century reiteration of velvet conversation pits, domed golden chandeliers, and eclectic geometric lamps, bringing the 1970s open plan living fully to [night]life.
Ahead of its Saturday opening, The Knockturnal was among a few special guests to tour the rooftop bar – which boasts 270-degree views of the city from two outdoor terraces, complete with full frontal views of the Empire State Building just up the block. The generously poured sparkling wine during the event certainly matched the bold and bright colors of not only the interior bar but also the bar’s developers, Dayssi and Paul Kanavos of the Flag Luxury Group.
Designed by the London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the sights and sounds were all front and center ahead of Nubeluz’s opening. “When we first envisioned this property with Rafael Viñoly,” the Uruguayan architect behind 432 Park, “we knew that the views would be spectacular and we needed to create an equally striking space inside for guests to be fully immersed in the beauty and glamour of New York at night,” said Flag Luxury Group President Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos.

“Nubeluz draws energy and inspiration from the great city of New York, which completely surrounds you here 500 feet in the air,” Chef Andrés said in a press release.
The bar’s floor-to-ceiling windows bring that love for New York’s nightlife into new … light. One can stand at one edge of the bar and feel like they’re grabbing drinks with the Met Life Tower itself, and be able to look across the open concept bar to spot people atop the Empire State – if the massive line of people looking to grab a drink at the onyx-counter bar ever dissipates.
Now open, the bar deliciously serves up opulent bar bites such as oysters, foie gras, sweet cones, and the ever-popular caviar bump. For those who really want to ball out, you can grab 125 grams of Giaveri Beluga caviar for only $950. The drinks are no laughing matter – led by Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup’s cocktail innovator Miguel Lancha, the moderately priced mocktails and cocktails will surely leave you wanting more. You can check out the extensive wine list and other small bites on the menu here.
Afraid of heights but want good bites? Not to worry – you can still have the José Andrés food at a much lower elevation. The Ritz Carlton New York, NoMad features two additional Andrés restaurants for guests and visitors alike. The street-level Zaytinya offers a Turkish-inspired Mediterranean mezze menu, while the Bazaar by José Andrés gives hungry visitors an “Avante Garde” delectable dining option.
Nubeluz is open Sunday through Wednesday from 4 PM to 12 AM and Thursday through Saturday from 4 PM to 1 AM. You can make a reservation here.

In The City: ST~GERMAIN Liqueur Debuts Fleuriste ST~GERMAIN with Multi-Hyphenate Artist Jameel Mohammed of KHIRY & Paper Floral Designer Zoe Bradley
Last night on a perfect summer night in a very downtown New York City, ST~GERMAIN Elderflower Liqueur in collaboration with multi-hyphenate artist Jameel Mohammed of KHIRY and Paper Designer Zoe Bradley launched the 2nd Annual Fleuriste ST~GERMAIN — a veritable paper “fleuriste” or flower shop en français in response to the global flower shortage.
The multi-sensory paper flower shop sought to reimagine the joie de vivre of fresh florals by bringing their eternal joy to life with paper mediums, and spark collaboration and creativity through inspired conversations, exclusive jazz performances, one-of-a-kind bouquets, and whimsical cocktails.
“It’s been an honor to collaborate with Jameel on Fleuriste ST~GERMAIN,” said Zoe Bradley of Zoe Bradley Design. “Working alongside an artistic peer allowed me to endlessly leverage my imagination and create emotive installations that reintroduced the elation of fresh flowers. I hope guests delight in the pleasure and fantasy of our creations.”
The paper flower shop-cum-craft cocktail bar pop-up in the heart of SoHo buzzed, as an illustrious mix of cultural tastemakers, celebrities, musicians and industry innovators mingled and toasted with artfully crafted St~Germain cocktails inspired by Jameel and Zoe —the ‘Songbird’, ‘Fleur Savage’ and ‘Above the Clouds’.
The intimate soiree previewed the second iteration of the limited-run Fleuriste St~Germain pop-up space, which will be open to New Yorkers from Friday, August 12 (2-8 pm) through Saturday, August 13 (12-8 pm), where they can enjoy exclusive performances by Jameel, spirited dialogues, and paper flower workshops by Zoe along with specialty craft cocktails.
We spotted Actress AnnaSophia Robb, who is set to tie the knot next month, arrived wearing in a stunning yellow Carolina Herrera dress and Mark Cross bag. She chatted with Jameel Mohammed on how her very first cocktail was one whipped up by her mom using a bottle of her favorite elderflower liqueur, St~Germain. Southern Charm star, Venita Aspen, made a surprise appearance, sipping on a ‘Fleur Savage’ St-Germain cocktail as she told fellow guests about her recent move from Charleston to New York just in time for the summer.
Multi-hyphenate artist and Fleuriste St-Germain Creator Jameel Mohammed of KHIRY entranced the crowd with his singing, performing two Ella Fitzgerald songs; ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘I Didn’t Know What Time it Was’.
The evening wrapped with AnnaSophia in the back of house snacking on the leftover hors d’oeuvres, including the miniature tempura rutabagas, and joking that this might be better than the post-event sushi date she had planned with Carrie Diaries alum Stefania LaVie Owen.
