Golden State came out scorching, taking full advantage of a wounded Spurs team. Scoring 72 points in the first-half behind Curry’s 19 points on 5-7 shooting from long-range. Curry had great help from teammates Draymond Green and Kevin Durant with a combine of 19 points between the two.
The silver lining for the Spurs was Forward Jonathan Simmons who was the only Spur in double figures going into the second-half with 17 of the teams 44 points. Although, Simmons had his career high in scoring, it wasn’t sufficient for the fast paced Warriors team. With a final score of 136-100 in favor of Golden State. Stephen Curry had a game high with 29 points and 7 assists.
Tonight, San Antonio was forced to skirmish without their superstar Kawhi Leonard. Twisting his ankle multiple times throughout game one. It remains unknown if the efforts by Warriors Center Zaza Pachuila were intent to harm Leonard.
However, the NBA didn’t believe that the defensive play from Pachuila was malicious enough for a flagrant two foul.
Kawhi was having a tremendous impact on the game. 26 Points, 8 Rebounds, 3 assists, and 11 free-throw attempts in just 24 minutes. (Game 1)
Rest assured this Veteran Spurs team has a chance of overcoming adversity. This is a proven pedigree organization; anything can happen in game three. Nonetheless credit the Warriors for taking care of business in the first two games of this Western Conference Finals.
