VIP Preview of Hulu’s ‘Welcome to Chippendales’ Experience in West Hollywood

by Katherine Wright November 25, 2022
written by Katherine Wright

The Knockturnal attended a VIP preview of Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendales” Experience at Rocco’s in West Hollywood, an exclusive sneak-peek at the event before doors opened to the public.

Guests were transported back to the 70s for a thematic glimpse into the series, filled with disco balls, colored lights, neon signs, and fake dollar bills that participants could exchange for merchandise and signature cocktails.

The event was elegantly paced, leaving guests constantly entertained as they moved from room to room for different performances and dazzling atmospheres. In the first, we walked down a colorful hallway filled with “Welcome to Chippendales” neon signs that led to a main room complete with a bar, dance floor, photo booth, and light snacks, mingling while awaiting the dancers to take the stage.

After a costume change from the performers, the group was led into a second room to collect their “Welcome to Chippendales” merchandise, selecting from either a fanny pack or a shirt, and then migrated to an outdoor area to watch the dancers’ finale and indulge in more signature drinks. TVs played exclusive clips from the series throughout the experience.

“Welcome to Chippendale’s” is now streaming on Hulu!

Exclusive: Kate Hudson & Ana Lily Amirpour Talk ‘Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon’ [VIDEO]

by Kinsey Schofield October 3, 2022
written by Kinsey Schofield

In this exclusive interview, Kate Hudson and Ana Lily Amirpour discuss Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon with The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield.

Happy Halloween! If you’re looking for a great escape this spooky season, Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon is your go-to popcorn pursuit. Kate Hudson plays Bonnie Bell: a street-wise stripper and single mother. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days goddess recently said that her tougher-than-nails character is inspired by pop icon Cardi B.

Based in New Orleans, where Hudson famously films a large number of her movies, Bonnie Bell stumbles upon a mystifying woman with supernatural powers. Influenced by Mona Lisa’s perplexing abilities, Bonnie sees the mysterious stranger as a Godsend and immediately starts trying to monetize her superpowers. Once the NOPD starts chasing the duo… all hell breaks loose.

Evan Whitten plays Hudson’s son, Charlie, and fierce defender of Mona Lisa Lee. No. His performance didn’t make me cry. Happy opposite day.

I would describe this movie as wildly wonderful and extremely fun.

Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon stars Kate Hudson, Jeon Jong-seo, Craig Robinson, Ed Skrein, and Evan Whitten. The film and written and directed by the fantastic Ana Lily Amirpour.

Want to watch Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon today? Stream it on Hulu Plus! You can also rent or purchase Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon on Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon Instant Video.

On the Scene: Keep Lock’s ‘Respect the Jux’ Premiere

by Lenique Vincent May 14, 2022
written by Lenique Vincent

Cinema Village NYC hosted the premiere of the Pusha T and Keep Lock produced drama, Respect the Jux, on May 6. The star studded event brought celebrity trainer Don Saladino, reggae music producer JKlassic, the cast and more to the red carpet.

Respect the Jux focuses on how the “American Dream,” for some, is only a dream; especially for those with few resources. Jux Producer Anothony Jacobs sums it up, “This movie is about the choices life sometimes leaves us with.” The film portrays the infamous struggle of migrating to the U.S. from Jamaica. A cycle that often starts with a parent leaving their child(ren) behind to start a life in “the land of opportunity;” before sending for them so they can grow up in a better place.

The film, however, is just the beginning of a larger story. Years in the making, the novel based plot is the first of many urban stories Keep Lock will produce, according to director and writer G.H. Goba. “This is our job. To produce consistent urban content,” he reassured on the red carpet. “No longer would you have to wait five years for your next movie. From here on out, every year you’re going to see us standing on somebody’s red carpet; presenting to you something great.”

In addition to releasing more content, including Respect the Jux 2, a big part of Keep Lock’s mission is to employ black creatives and non-creatives to keep them off the street. Goba noted, “We’re not about the limelight. We’re actually about the network (…) let’s build. We’re looking for writers, producers, directors, leads(…) we can provide opportunities.”

Respect the Jux is now available on Hulu, Prime, Apple TV and more. Get updates for Respect the Jux 2 and more Keep lock films by following @juxmovie and @keeplockfilms on Instagram.
