Whispering Angel Rosé and South Beach Wine & Food Festival hosted their first-ever Celebrity Chef Pickleball Tournament

On Saturday morning, Whispering Angel Rosé and South Beach Wine & Food Festival hosted their first-ever Celebrity Chef Pickleball Tournament at the Miami Beach Golf Club in Miami, FL.


Celebrity chef participants included Hunter Fieri, Marcus Samuelsson, Bryan Voltaggio, Jet Tila, Antonia Lofaso, Adrianne Calvo, and more. Jeff Mauro kept the energy high as the MC extraordinaire and once players were eliminated, they headed over to the Whispering Angel bar to grab a glass of rosé and continue watching the game. 

Whispering Angel is a premium, versatile, dry rosé. According to their website “Whispering Angel is made from grapes sourced from amongst the most choice Vineyards in the vicinity of the Esclans Valley and nearby in the Cotes de Provence region. Harvesting is conducted during the night time to avoid the heat of the day & to keep the crop fresh. Upon arriving in the Cellars, grapes are sorted for both health and quality through Optical Eye Sorting ensuring that the grapes, ultimately selected, are assessed accurately in terms of overall quality.”

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival celebrated its 22nd year by helping to eat, drink and educate. According to their website “The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (SOBEWFF®) is a national, star-studded, four-day destination event showcasing the talents of the world’s most renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs and culinary personalities. All net proceeds from the Festival benefit the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University (FIU)”.

At the Celebrity Chef Pickleball Tournament, DJ Khaled stopped by the tournament to grab a set of Whispering Angel Pickleball paddles, Bryan Voltaggio and Jet Tila competed against Hunter Fieri and Tara Bernstein in the semi-finals but were defeated 11-5, and Hunter Fieri and Tara Bernstein battled it out in the finals only to be defeated by influencer George Arango (@mr.eats305) and his partner!

On The Scene: UnitedMasters A Celebration of Independence

During Grammy weekend, UnitedMasters hosted a Celebration of Independence concert featuring performances by Russ, Grammy nominated Tobe Nwigwe and Brent Faiyaz. Steve Stoute’s UnitedMasters partook in Grammy weekend festivities by celebrating the power of independent music and the innovative artists who are pushing culture forward. UnitedMasters and its guests completely packed out the Hollywood Palladium. Notable guests in attendance included Steve Stoute (UnitedMasters Founder and CEO) as well as Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Nas, DJ Khaled, Wiz Khalifa, Future, Daniel Kaluuya, Damson Idris, Gayle King, Jermaine Dupri, Doug E. Fresh, Koffee, Eric Nam, Soo Joo Park, Lauren Juargegi, DDG, JELEEL, Grandmaster Flash, Jabari Banks, and many more.

The arena was divided into GA, lounge and VIP sections as the guests started arriving. The lounge & VIP areas for special guests featured an open bar with complimentary cocktails and prime viewing from the second floor. Guests were filled with excitement and anticipation as Tobe Nwigwe took the stage followed by Russ. The audience began moving closer to the stage as the final performer for the evening took the stage. The night ended with a performance by Brent Faiyaz that had the entire crowd in their feelings, singing along and truly celebrating independent music.

On The Scene: We The Best Press Conference PT 3

After Khaled finished making his announcements and letting guests know what was in store for this year, the city of Miami honored Khaled by naming  February 9th “WE THE BEST” day in the city of Miami and November 26th “KHALED KHALED” day in the city of Miami Beach. Khaled was also given the key to the city of Miami and Miami Beach for his generous contributions to the community, and his ongoing civic engagement. “I’m not giving this award to Khaled because of his celebrity. We’re giving it to him because he has taken that celebrity and done something extraordinary and special with it,” said Mayor Dan Gelber of Miami Beach. 

Once the conference wrapped, the media were given gift bags with complimentary Belaire along with a handwritten motivational note from Khaled.

Following the press conference, Khaled held an after-party at the flagship Raising Cane’s in South Beach. Cane’s was decked out with a DJ, step and repeat, posters, and an out-of-this-world We The Best cake. Media were given complimentary Cane’s meals as well as a slice of the delicious red velvet cake. Upon arrival, Khaled walked behind the register and showed his love and support for Cane’s before snapping a quick picture with the entire staff. Khaled sat and spoke with the press briefly before signing posters and ending this memorable and successful day. While answering questions, Khaled discussed that returning to Def Jam felt like a homecoming for him and that hip hop is more than just the music, “it’s a lifestyle, the way we talk, the way we walk, the way we breathe,” Khaled said.

After the after-party, We The Best provided airport transportation and ensured every journalist and correspondent made it home safely. DJ Khaled and We The Best set the bar high with this press conference and did not disappoint. Not only was this a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it was also history in the making and will forever be remembered as nothing short of legendary.

DJ Khaled’s We The Best press conference in Miami was truly a legendary and unforgettable day packed with a multitude of surprises. After announcing that We The Best will be relocating to Def Jam the party did not stop there. If you’re a fan of Khaled you know his signature style always includes a pair of Jordans, so it only seemed natural when Khaled announced that he was partnering with Air Jordan once again for the We The Best Air Jordan V, which is sure to be one of the most coveted drops this year and will be available to the public Cyber Monday 2023. “I wanna shout out Michael Jordan, I wanna shoutout the Jumpman team for believing in me and for supporting me and everything I do, years ago I had so many people come up to me wanting me to be part of this and a part of that, and I respected them coming to me, but I just couldn’t do it because it wouldn’t be authentic to me because really all I wear is Air Jordan,” said Khaled. In addition, Khaled’s We The Best Foundation will continue to collaborate with Jordan Brand Black Community Commitment.

Following the Jordan announcement, Khaled brought out SNIPES CEO Sven Voth, who announced that SNIPES and DJ Khaled would be partnering; to open the exclusive We The Best SNIPES Store in Miami. This collaboration, makes the first time an artist and sneaker retailer have partnered to open a physical location together. The We The Best Snipes store will offer the latest SNIPES apparel and exclusive co-branded merchandise, a live DJ, a sound booth for up-and-coming artists, and showcase looks from local Miami designers. DJ Khaled said, “This store means so much to me because as a kid my parents owned retail stores, so I was basically raised in the back of a store, so to have my own store with a big company like Snipes and something that I’m true to and pure too and what I love about SNIPES is what they do for the community.”

This was the perfect segue into the next surprise, Khaled announced that the We The Best Foundation – a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to uplifting individuals throughout underserved communities across the United States and the support of various non-profits – will be launching its inaugural scholarship program, in partnership with Roc Nation. Khaled plans to offer a full-ride, four-year scholarship for a student seeking to attend the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment at Long Island University (LIU). Applications for Khaled’s scholarship are open at https://apply.liu.edu/rn, and the University will accept submissions until 11:59 pm ET on April 15.

To be eligible for the scholarship, prospective students must be looking to enroll in the Fall 2023 semester. Additionally, applicants must either submit a written or video entry (maximum three minutes) that answers the following questions:

· How do you define success?

· Please share how the DJ Khaled Scholarship will help you be the best version of yourself.

· Where do you see yourself in ten years, and how will you get there?

During the announcement, Khaled said, “Me and my queen ever since we been together, even before we met each other, we both had a love for giving back. Giving back has always been a priority in my life and her life. We’re raising our kids to see that you have to work hard but also always give back and show love. We have a team that works year-round nonstop on how can we give back, do more, uplift, inspire, motivate, and hug all the kids in need. Inspire them to keep going and not just the kids, but also the families, the mothers, and fathers, and give out scholarships.”

Director Of Roc Nation School’s Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production Program, Grammy Award-Winning engineer Young Guru took the stage next to speak on how the Roc Nation school plans on educating kids, “when we look at DJ Khaled, we can understand how somebody can start off with a simple label as a DJ and become a worldwide brand.” Following Guru’s speech, Aneesha Saleem, Head of the We The Best Foundation took the stage to announce this year’s scholarship winner. This year’s recipient of the We The Best scholarship is Miami’s own Felisha Agenor, whose known at her school as “The Achiever” with a 4.2 GPA and seven extracurriculars.

On The Scene: DJ Khaled Presents We The Best Press Conference Pt 1

On Wednesday, writers and correspondents from across America were flown out to South Beach, Miami, for a special press conference held by DJ Khaled & We The Best taking place the following day. Day 1 of the 48-hour trip included complimentary flights, an airport shuttle, and a one-night stay at the legendary South Beach W Hotel. We The Best showed up and showed out and made it clear why they are the best after giving writers the 5-star treatment. Guests were greeted with cocktails on arrival and left to enjoy themselves for an entire night, all while wondering what the press conference had in store the next day. From poolside to beachside views to luxury amenities inside the hotel, there was more than enough to do to enjoy Miami for a night.

Day 2 of the trip was the press conference and after-party, and the energy was electric. As the media entered the iconic Mr.Chow, where the press conference was held, immediately to the right-hand side was a step & repeat with We The Best, Belaire, Def Jam, Roc Nation, and Air Jordan logos. At this moment, it became abundantly clear that Khaled might have more than one announcement. Writers enjoyed lite bites and complimentary cocktails while waiting for the conference to begin. We The Best, were the best at keeping everything secretive from the announcements themselves to who would be in attendance.

Just before Khaled’s arrival, the media were shown a video of Diddy sending a heart-felt message about Khaled before introducing him. DJ Khaled arrived fashionably late and dropped the biggest announcement first as journalists were on the edge of their seats waiting to find out what the announcement could be. Khaled was a ball of energy as always and was overflowing with positivity and love as he thanked guests for traveling and taking time out of their schedules for this news. Khaled kicked off the good news by saying, similar to when Lebron James held a press conference to announce he was taking his talents to Miami, Khaled announced that he and We The Best will now be partnering with Def Jam Records moving forward and that all upcoming releases like his next album will be a Universal Music Group / Def Jam release. Not only this, but Khaled will also be joining Def Jam/UMG as a Global Creative Consultant.

DJ Khaled states, “This new chapter marks a special time for me. The energy at this point in my career is at an all-time high and I’m grateful to Sir Lucian Grainge for allowing me to join his empire at this stage in my journey. DJ Khaled and Tidal Celebrate Release of New Album ‘Father of Asahd’ at 40/40 Club
