We recently caught up with actor Shannon Wallace, who plays Private Nate Barker on BET’s American Soul to talk working with legends Victoria Rowell, Richard Brooks and Kelly Price. We also talked about his life as a model and what he loves most about the grooviest time period ever, the 1970’s.
Tonight (July 16th), BET’s “Tales” which is in its second season, will premiere their latest episode inspired by Mary J Blige’s “My Life” song, in which The Knockturnal’s own Chasity Saunders will star on the episode as the character Ashley. After years of interviewing a who’s who of Hollywood A listers, Saunders is ready to show that she can stand toe to toe in the same spotlight as the greats on screen.
BET hosted a special screening for its newest competition show The Next Big Thing on Monday, June 8th at the AMC Empire Theatre in Times Square. Charlamagne tha God hosted the screening and a panel discussion that included music producer and NBT judge Zaytoven, and A&R Tina Davis who is also a judge on the series. Although, entertainment mogul Damon Dash, was missing in action, his strong presence was felt during the screening of the intense pilot where he also judges the competition.
In 2017, Murder Inc head Irv Gotti premiered a new television series concept on BET, an anthology series called Tales in which each episode story line was based upon lyrics from popular hip hop and R&B songs such as Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen. On July 2nd the series will return to BET for season two with premiere of the episode “Brothers”, which stars Elijah Kelly, and is inspired by a new track by Kanye West of the same name.

The Sonos retail store transformed into a listening lounge, complete with a female-only playlist and pop-up boutiques by local women-run companies.
Twenty-seven years after the release of the 1992 film “Boomerang,” which starred Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry, Robin Givens, Eartha Kitt, and Grace Jones, BET is helping to pick up the story from the film decades later, with their new series aptly titled “Boomerang.”
Speaking of watching something new, Three-time NAACP nominated actor, author and MTV award winner choreographer, Darrin D. Henson is the latest to join the BET miniseries, The Family Business.
