Skinney Medspa Opens It’s Newest Location in Midtown NYC

On Wednesday, December 4th, Skinney Medspa held the grand opening to their newest location at 37 W 57th Street in NYC. Founders, Adriana, and Marisa Martino celebrated the opening of their third Skinney Medspa in NYC by inviting guests to visit the spa and experience some of the incredible treatments they had to offer.

I often tell myself I’m going to check out a medspa now that I’ve been in NYC for quite some time but never really make an effort. So when invited to the Skinney Medspa grand opening I said to myself “Self, this is it! You’re going to try the medspa thing.”When I arrived at the new Skinney Medspa I immediately loved the atmosphere. Since this was a grand opening event, it was more of a social gathering than a “spa day” but there were a number of private treatment rooms. Being a medspa and having a physician present allows Skinny Medspa to have treatments like cool sculpting, botox, plasma facials and all the other cool things you see the Kardashians do. One of the newer treatments Skinney Medspa will be offering is the Emsculpt treatment.

Of the treatments offered during the event, I was immediately drawn to the Emsculpt. The first reason being, I had seen it on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and the second reason is that it claims to help you burn fat without going to the gym.  The Emsculpt treatment is non-invasive and a really quick and painless process. As soon I  entered my treatment room, they strapped the Emsculpt belt around my waist and I could feel my muscles working as if I were doing crunches. I wouldn’t describe what I was feeling as painful but you could definitely feel it working. The High-Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic (HIFEM) energy causes the muscles to contract to tone and burn fat.  While you will need a minimum of four treatments before you see major results, I can tell you the next morning I definitely felt like I had strengthened my core, in a good way.

Like any “get abs quick” method, the Emsculpt may cost a pretty penny,  but to me, it is worth it.  At around $1000 a treatment, it isn’t the most expensive however I personally found it to be more effective than just getting some fat sucked out. Because the Emscuplt does stimulate the muscles, it’s doing more than just making you look good but actually strengthing the muscles targeted. A 30-minute treatment is approximately the equivalent to 20,000 crunches, and I’m simply not up to that challenge. I’m super excited about heading back in the near future.
