Serenity in the city. Alchemai debuts new Bonsai Collection at Shopify NYC!

Summer camp meets the spa at the Alchemai friends and family preview of their Bonsai Collection. The SoHo Shopify space was completely transformed into a nature-filled escape. Live plants and moss cover every corner of the shop. Upon entering, guests are invited to play in a life-sized zen garden, complete with wooden rakes and soft sand. Within this picturesque interactive display, hoodies from Alchemai’s new Bonsai Collection are artfully draped, as if they are extensions of plants themselves.

The Bonsai Collection

The collection features three different styles of hoodies in the colors green and beige.  Each includes a different hidden message sewn into the sleeve. Voted the ‘hoodiest hoodie’ by thousands on TikTok, the quality and comfort level are top-tier. Complete a full sweat set with the matching green and beige sweet pants. The collection also includes a zen garden, two sets of press-on nails, matches, and pins. Alchemai owner, Mai Pham, dressed head to toe in the bonsai zip-up and bonsai sweatpants. She happily greeted guests throughout the evening, handing out branded fortune cookies.

Matcha Time

At the center of the room is the Bonsai Bar featuring matcha by Nami Matcha. A variety of beverages were also offered using ingredients such as Yuzuco Soda, Hojicha, and, of course, matcha. Owner Ashley Alexander herself popped behind the drink bar, helping make the beverages for guests! The Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte was a nice dark green color with a full-bodied, creamy flavor, without being too sweet. The less caffeinated Iced Maple Hojicha Latte was deliciously sweet and a perfect fall beverage.

Treats & Bites

Guests also enjoyed Pham’s customized strawberry and matcha donuts from COPS. These were incredibly sweet but so perfectly airy! Iconic 7th Street Burgers, canned alcoholic beverages, and Poppi sodas were available for guests to enjoy at their leisure.

Art & Activities

Downstairs, a variety of thoughtfully curated stations were available for guests to interact with. This includes a stationery area featuring branded pencils, notecards, and stickers, where guests can write inspirational messages to themselves and others. Apple Tree Poetry wrote custom poems. Guests gave a starting word, then the poet typed a custom poem, using a typewriter, onto an apple-shaped piece of paper.

Throughout the pop-up, projectors and television screens play a cinematic short film featuring the Bonsai Collection. The actors are outdoors camping, swimming, and enjoying a road trip with friends. The film acts as an elegant mood board for the event. Also featured is a custom wrapping station for guests who purchase $300 or more worth of items.

Ending The Evening

Pham and Alexander ended the evening thanking their guests for supporting both brands. Pham mentioned that Bonsai Collection was three years in the making, leading up to now. The pop-up is open to the public now through Sunday evening, before the Bonsai Collection goes live on the Alchemai website on 11/27 at 11:11 PM ET.
