We joined Sebago for a summer party in NYC with food from Tacombi and plenty of chic shoes to go around!
Just in case you didn’t notice from the temperature, it’s definitely summer in NYC. But in a timely fashion, Sebago hosted a charming rooftop soiree at their Midtown headquarters last week right before the sweltering temperatures set in. It might be Midtown, but there was nothing corporate about this scene: we ditched the suits and button-ups for breezy trad-chic: double polos (collars popped), khakis capris, Sebago boat shoes, and two kids on the way.
We were transported to a Hampton’s campsite or- better yet- a Chesapeake Bay harbor with the shoes and treats. With tacos and guac served by Tacombi, it was a easy-going free for all; margaritas on tap or choose your own beer. We finished off with a popsicle and took a minute to explore Sebago’s legendary lineup of footwear for the current season and next fall. Check out our favorites!
Litesides™ Two Eye in Brown Leather: The legendary boat shoe deserves a spot in every closet. Make it this one. Elegant and sporty, this is the shoe for the sportsman. These transcend time and trend- the permanent essential. Get them in this essential color way and texture for the perfect match to a summer outfit. The Liteside comes in a lot of different textures and colors; including a remarkable suede. There’s a variety of boat shoes on the market today, but Sebago has championed a comfortable one.
Tirso Tie in Cognac Leather: You want the whole truth and nothing but the truth? The Tirso tie is one of the best looking drivers on the market; beating out anything from Gucci or Prada. This stiffer leather will patina nicely, but never look destroyed or compromised. An efficient and responsible design, the Tirso is a little more formal than the boat shoe; but maintain a element of casual chic that makes this shoe great for weekends east or in-town shopping.
Spinnaker Nubuck in Grey-Taupe/Beige: Three’s a crowd and a good one at that with this elegant take on variety. Obsessed with lighter tones in a particular contrasting elegance, this variation on the Spinnaker is unique and certainly have the makings of a statement shoe. Where will you go in them? We imagine them working particularly well with black or robins-egg blue pants: no socks, of course. Contrast sticking and sourcing from one piece of leather is just part of the deal.
Spinnaker Striped Canvas: Canvas shoes are polarizing. For a lot of people, the first pair they might have seen were the Converse Chuck Taylor, the banana-shaped flat shoe that had a moment in the mid ’00s and an even bigger one in the ’70s. The canvas boat shoe is a fascinating elaboration on the whole idea- bringing a Yellow Springs boho look to the world. Of course, canvas has a place in the upper reaches of prep scene- just look at the beach bag of choice- an L.L. Bean tote in canvas. These shoes are statement pieces, but not overwhelming. The print doesn’t cancel out the intricacies of the shoe design themselves. Score!
