This is a show you don’t want to miss
On Tuesday, February 2, the upcoming late night show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee hosted a behind the scenes look at their new show. Airing its first episode on February 8, The Daily Show alum has had high praise for her no nonsense attitude. Even the many commercials that have aired have been hilarious. Samantha Bee has been known to talk about the real issues on her mind as seen from her correspondent work at The Daily Show, and from the special preview we attended, she is bringing the same energy to Full Frontal.
The evening began with screening some small clips from the test audience show. The first segment was her covering the democratic debate. She had a fun energy in which she made some small quips about how easygoing a lot of these Democratic debates have been going and how Bernie is essentially ‘killing it’ in this race. The second clip was a segment called “Elected Paperweight.” In this segment, Bee will look at an elected official saying or doing something that is idiotic in her (and in many other people’s) opinion and essentially criticize their entire being. And for this segment she addressed the Kansas senator who tried to pass a regulation for how women in The Senate should be dressed so that it doesn’t offend any men in the room. Bee, a strong and opinionated feminist went to town on this senator criticizing his entire existence, and it was all extremely funny. The last segment shown was a field piece that Bee did in which she went to Jordan to talk to the Syrian refugees that have been feared recently. She essentially talks to the refugees, talks to the people in charge of the screening process, and comes to the conclusion that the Republicans who are striking fear into American hearts about how dangerous it would be to let Syrian refugees in are a bunch of idiots (shocker!).
What is great about this show is that is covers a lot of hot topic issues in a comedic way. There is a good amount of comedy in these pieces but it also has a lot of truth and information. While watching this field piece, it had a Daily Show vibe where it addressed hot topic issues in a very satirical yet informative way. And in the Q&A that Bee did after, she mentioned how she wants to cover a lot of hot button issues like LGBTQ+ rights and the new ZIKA virus that is spreading. Samantha Bee has a very intelligent sense of humor that is also very relatable to a vast amount of people which is why we cannot wait to check out the premiere of her new show which is on the 8th of February.
