The thriller film “Runt” premiered in New York City on September 29 at the Roxy Cinema Theater at The Roxy Hotel.
Runt follows the story of Cal, a bullied high school senior who, in trying to seek revenge, gets lost in a downward spiral of violence as he desperately tries to navigate the world of high school and differentiate right from wrong.
Cal is portrayed by Cameron Boyce, who delivers an incredibly powerful and skilled performance. Runt marks Boyce’s final film following his passing in 2019. Runt is dedicated to Boyce’s memory, with a segment in the film’s credits noting that Boyce hoped to use what he learned from playing Cal to start conversations about tolerance and positivity. Boyce also firmly believed in the power of kindness and the use of creative arts to reduce violence. He understood that it is essential that young people have access to positive and creative outlets to reduce violence and negativity, something that Runt beautifully illustrates.
At the New York premiere, Nicole Elizabeth Berger (Cecily), Aramis Knight (Vic), and Seth Lee (Chris) were in attendance. Additional guests at the event included producers Carl Rumbaugh and Gregory Thomas. Runt is directed by William Coakley, who also wrote the screenplay alongside Christian Van Gregg and Armand Constantine.
A fun party followed at Spring Place roof.
