A powerful and emotional historical drama that tells the true story of Jan Karski, a Polish resistance fighter during World War II, and his efforts to bring the atrocities of the war to the attention of the Western world. It is a powerful and impactful film that highlights the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought against tyranny during the war.

“Remember This” is a powerful and emotional film that tells the true story of Jan Karski, a Polish resistance fighter during World War II and a Holocaust witness.

The film stars Academy Award nominee David Strathairn in a virtuoso solo performance as Karski, who risks his life to bring the atrocities of the war to the attention of the Western world. The film is a genre-defying true story that captures the complexity and legacy of Karski’s journey as an “insignificant, little man” whose testimony of moral courage and individual responsibility still resonates today.

The film follows Karski’s life in harrowing and mesmerizing detail, as he recounts his experiences with the Western world, such as his meeting at the Oval Office. The film’s formal decisions, such as the use of a single camera and black and whitepalette, heighten the intimacy of the experience and allow Strathairn’s powerful performance to take center stage.

The post-film Q&A, moderated by Katie Couric, was an excellent opportunity for audiences to engage further with the material and the filmmakers. The director, lead actor, and Auschwitz survivor were in attendance. They spoke to the audience about the process of adapting this piece from a play into a film as we see it today and notions of how the film represents so much more than what we see, it represents the preservation around the memory of the great horrors that took place during the Second World War.

The film is a must-see for anyone interested in World War II history and the power of one person to make a difference.
