Music meets fashion. A common tale with a pretty sick twist!
Sabrina Fuentes, leading lady of indie alt band Pretty Sick, hosted a pop-up for her new clothing line P.S by Pretty Sick. The New York Fashion Week event was held at the Lower East Side’s Café Forgot on Tuesday evening.
Upon entering the edgy, cool kid feeling event, guests could enjoy a personal-sized bottle of Lantern Vinho Verde Rosé while browsing Fuentes’s clothing line and Pretty Sick merch items. Slices of cake were also available for guests to eat. Fuentes served many of these herself, in between greeting folks and taking photos with her fans.
The collection includes graphic baby tees with phrases like “I hate you,” cheetah-print tights, patterned sweaters, and a small selection of denim and lacy items. Beanies and limited edition stickers were also available for purchase.
The New York native drew some of her inspiration for the line from NYC and Japanese brands. The designs feature bold phrases such as “I think you’re sick, get well soon xoxo” and “Fuck the Future.” Fuentes emphasized that comfort was a key focus when creating the collection.
“I just love easy to wear, roll out of bed, cute clothes, and I feel like I need to be comfortable all the time,” says Fuentes.
Music was another major influence on the brand’s creation. Fuentes noted that the lyrics and sound of her band’s music, and other bands she admires, played a big role in shaping the line.
“I’m also really inspired by other vintage band merch and like the merch of bands that I grew up loving,” she says.
