The streets of Los Angeles were buzzing as guests arrived at the Warner Music Group pre-Grammy Celebration on Thursday, February 7!
The event was hosted at the famous Nomad Hotel in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and was presented by Belvedere Vodka, Citi and in association with V Magazine. Everyone was excited to witness performances by Dua Lipa and Nipsey Hussle, both of whom are nominated for Grammys this year!
Additional guests in attendance included: Andrew Watt, Anne Marie, Bebe Rexha, Benj Pasek, Bhad Bhabie, Brandi Carlile, Broods, Charli XCX, Christina Perri, DJ Cassidy, Dan + Shay, Elderbrook, Electric Guest, Evan Ross, Hailee Steinfeld, Halestorm, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Gates, Kiiara, Lauren Daigle, Lil Pump, Lizzo, Mahalia, Mike Shinoda, MILCK, Pardison Fontaine, Rita Ora, Tayla Parx, The Stereotypes, Ty Dolla $ign, Wale, Wallows, Why Don’t We, and many more.
As the night began, artists began to file down the black carpet. We got a chance to talk with Connie Lim, professionally known as MILCK. She talked with us about her song “Quiet”, which became the anthem for the 2018 Women’s March. When asked how she felt about the hugely positive response to her popular song, MILCK told reporters “It’s an honor to be part of that and it’s so complex and I’ve learned so much. It’s been like an uplifting and also a challenging balance of figuring out how do I support this movement and how do I keep making the music I want to make? Does every song need to be a feminist song? No. It’s okay to give myself permission to also write about different things that are going on in my life…”. MILCK released her song, “Quiet” at the heart of the #metoo movement in late 2017, and has since released songs about other things she is passionate about as well.
We spoke with well known American singer, songwriter, and rapper, Ty Dolla $ign. When asked what he felt was the biggest problem facing the music industry, he immediately responded with “the deportation of 21 savage”. He then continued to explain that “the dude is a great man, when I was in the studio with him recently, he had his kids in there, and you don’t see a lot of rappers doing that. He’s a good man, and I heard he had already been petitioning his visa for the last four years! So hopefully he gets out of that situation, in Jesus name he will get out of that situation!”. We had a great conversation with Ty Dolla $ign.
Guests enjoyed Belvedere Vodka infused cocktails. The beer was served by Heineken and transportation was provided by Lyft.
The guests were all very excited to attend the Grammys this coming weekend.
