Guests can now step directly into the world of high fashion and iconic film moments from The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.

From the unforgettable “That’s all” scene to posing in THE Runway closet, fans will be given multiple classic photo opportunities the moment they arrive while viewing the legendary looks. The Devil Wears Prada 2 exhibit will be open to the public until August 9 (free with admission) and courtesy of Disney + and Hulu guests will be able to create their own fashion moment. Sightseers will find the recreated set of Miranda Priestly’s desk where visitors can pose and channel their inner “Andy Sachs”. The innovative styles worn by the award-winning stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are on display, and a chance to drool over the unforgettable shoes from Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin and gaze at the legendary Moscot Fogel or LGR Luxury sunglasses.

During the preview event hosted by the Museum of Arts and Design, the night opened with remarks from the film’s Director David Frankel, Museum Director Timothy R. Rodgers, and the fabulous Disney Executive Producer, Michael Bederman (as the museum’s Director lovingly referred to and introduced him), highlighting not only the love for the movie but how the film simply transcends time. The event was a celebration of the movie’s release on streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu.

Guests were also able to enjoy personal styling consultations and a look into what the Runway office looked like.  Visitors even had the chance to strut down the Runway catwalk before getting their hands on all the designer clothes from the movie. The night’s remarks underscored, “One thing the museum celebrates is design and craftsmanship, and the movie itself would not be what it is without the craftsmanship and work of Molly Rogers.”

Who is Molly Rogers? Award-winning costume designer Molly Rogers helped define some of fashion’s most iconic on-screen moments from both The Devil Wears Prada 1 and 2 to dressing the stylish world of Sex and the City. Remember Carrie Bradshaw’s Dior newspaper dress or Samantha Jones’s bold Mugler power suit that was Queen Molly Rogers doing. Her credentials also include looks from elite shows such as And Just Like That, Ugly Betty, Confessions of a Shopaholic; the list goes on and on. During the event, Molly Rogers was able to share her insights on her contributions to the film.

How did you approach honoring the iconic fashion legacy of the original film while creating a fresh look for the sequel?

I spoke with the Director and Writers who were on the project much longer than myself. I picked their brain and absorbed as much as I could to think about where we were headed. I thought Pat Fields’ DNA roadmap – the lanes each of the characters was in was so strong, just like Sex and the City. It’s so specific to each of them, and it was helpful to push it forward into the future.

That’s a great segway into the next question: which character’s wardrobe was the most exciting or the most challenging this time around?

Anne Hathaway’s character Andy Sachs was the most challenging and most exciting because she is such a layered person. They all were, but she worked at Runway 20 years ago, had not drunk the Kool-Aid, and then became a New York reporter. All these smart things, but she still wanted to go in the closet with Nigel. So to depict that, we had to be very careful. It wasn’t until she got into the closet and went to Italy that she really loaded up on the designer, and Nigel was helping her dress for fashion. It was also very helpful to have her with iconic pieces, like the messenger bag at the beginning of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which set the tone for her character. The minute she put it on her shoulder, that was the real Andy.

Last question, but they referenced it in the film: how do you feel AI and technology are going to have an impact in fashion?

It’s a slippery slope. I wish we could figure out a way to enjoy all these technological horizons without abusing it or abusing us. I didn’t have a tablet when I was a kid and stayed outside, so I don’t want anyone to forget that you can’t take away the creativity or the human touch.

Visit the Museum of Art and Design before the exhibit is over on August 9. The unforgettable experience invites fans everywhere to step inside the world of high fashion and feel free to move at a glacial pace to see it all because we know how much it thrills Miranda.
