From its hit songs taking over the early days of Tiktok, to its professional runs on Broadway, the West End, and international tours, Six the Musical has been delighting audiences from all over the world with its upbeat tale of finding your voice.
The musical comedy tells the story of the six wives of Henry VIII, who all notoriously have, well…not the kindest fate. The show exudes messages of girl power and encourages its viewers to rewrite their own story, just as each of the queens does.
Modeled after a lively concert, all of the queens are reimagined through the eyes of pop icons, down to their outfits and solo songs. Catherine of Aragon is modeled on a mixture of Lemonade-era Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Jennifer Hudson, Anne Boleyn features elements of Avril Lavigne, Kate Nash, Miley Cyrus, and Lily Allen, Jane Seymour emulates pop balladeers such as Adele, Sia, Rihanna, and Celine Dion, Anna of Cleves radiates Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé’s “Feeling Myself”, Lorde’s “Royals”, and Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy”, Katherine Howard’s story is recontextualized through her depiction which parallels young, sexualized pop stars like Britney Spears and Ariana Grande, and Catherine Parr’s characterization draws inspiration from Alicia Keys and Emeli Sandé.
The all-new Broadway cast features Hailee Kaleem Wright as Catherine of Aragon, Leandra Ellis-Gaston as Anne Boleyn, Bella Coppola as Jane Seymour, Nasia Thomas as Anna of Cleves, Zoe Jensen as Katherine Howard, and Taylor Iman Jones as Catherine Parr. The cast also includes Marilyn Caserta, Ayla Ciccone-Burton, Holli’ Conway, Kristina Leopold, and Aubrey Matalon as Alternates. We sat down with them to talk all things Six!
