Read on below for our exclusive interviews.
The Knockturnal: What are you most excited for fans to see this season?
Kaley Cuoco: Season two is huge and the scope is way bigger. We went to Iceland, we went to Berlin. I play five Cassies this season so a lot of Cuoco to behold. I’m excited for people to see this casting, we have a lot of new cast members and just great actors. Sharon Stone comes in in the end so it was a big season for a lot of reasons.
T.R. Knight: It’s hard without spoiling it but I think that what I’m personally excited about is that Davey comes to visit her because she’s moved to Los Angeles whereas in season one they were communicating a lot over the phone. It was great to actually be in the same spot as her. Kaley is just—I don’t have enough good words to describe how it is working with her. It’s fun, it’s exciting and every time is different. It’s a great rollercoaster acting with her. Especially with how damaged they both are, it is intense and heavy but outside of filming she lightens it in such a beautiful way. A lot of times when you film those kinds of scenes it stays with you a little bit and she has this beautiful way to get out of it. One of the many things I appreciate about her.
Steve Yockney: I’m excited for people to see Gold Dress Cassie in action, and you’ll know what that means watching the show, and I’m really excited for people to see what Megan is up to.
The Knockturnal: What is it about playing Cassie that you enjoy so much?
Kaley Cuoco: I love playing Cassie because as an actor it is an actors dream because she literally has 18,000 personalities and 18,000 different emotions in one scene. Even playing some of these scenes while we were shooting, I never knew how I was going to play them because the show’s tone is so specific so it gave me so much to play with and a lot of freedom as an actor. It’s definitely been a dream to play the role.
The Knockturnal: Why do you think fans love the relationship we see between Cassie and Davey so much?
T.R. Knight: I think the sibling relationship can be very complicated, especially when you’re raised like they are and they don’t have the best role models. You both experience damage but you experience it in very different ways. There’s a lot of love but there’s also a lot of frustration and blame. So there’s so much there to bind—if that makes sense. It’s kind of nerdy actor talk but after all I am a nerdy actor!
The Knockturnal: In terms of season one and where it wrapped up, can you walk us through and set the scene for season two and the premiere?
Natalie Chaidez: When we meet Cassie in the premiere she’s moved to Los Angeles and has a whole new sober life. She’s got a new boyfriend, a new job, but things are not exactly as they seem.
The Knockturnal: What is about Cassie that you think resonated with fans and makes them root for her?
Steve Yockney: I think Cassie is a little bit like a tragic hero. She’s always trying to achieve a noble goal, she just ends up knocking down everything around her. I think people can be really frustrated with her but they also relate. It’s very human to make mistakes, and she makes a lot of them.
