When it comes to holidays, few call for a more delicious celebration than National Lobster Day. The day was a lively affair all throughout New York City on Thursday, but the place to be was truly The Park Terrace Hotel.
In a remarkable collaboration celebrating National Lobster Day, the acclaimed team behind Red Hook Lobster Pound in Brooklyn joined forces with the iconic hotel in Bryant Park for an exclusive pop-up event. The one-of-a-kind collaboration promised to be a memorable culinary experience, featuring a delectable menu and breathtaking views, and it did not disappoint.
For the special occasion, the Red Hook Lobster Pound team, renowned for their exceptional lobster creations, set up shop at the Park Terrace Hotel’s Terrazzo 6th floor lounge. With both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the picturesque Bryant Park, the unique venue provided the perfect backdrop for an extraordinary dining experience.
From lunchtime until early evening, the pop-up offered an enticing menu, exclusively crafted for the event. Guests could indulge in a selection of mouthwatering options, including the classic Maine, Connecticut, or Tuscan Lobster Rolls. For those looking to explore more flavors, the menu also features Crab Cakes Sliders, as well as refreshing salads such as Elote, Watermelon, and Lobster Citrus.
The collaboration between Red Hook Lobster Pound and Park Terrace Hotel marked a rare occasion as the renowned seafood experts rarely venture beyond their own stores for collaborations.
Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Red Hook, Brooklyn, Red Hook Lobster Pound has become a culinary sensation since its inception in 2008. Founded by Ralph Gorham and Susan Povich during the midst of the recession, this seafood haven emerged from a simple idea and a shared love for fresh, succulent lobster.
The story began at a kitchen table in Red Hook, inspired by lobsters they had recieved from a friend in Portland, Maine. With Red Hook’s natural affinity for seafood and their ownership of an empty storefront on Van Brunt Street, the couple knew they had stumbled upon something extraordinary, and Red Hook was the perfect backdrop for their venture. The neighborhood, reminiscent of Maine’s lobstering communities, provided a sense of authenticity and charm. With a waterfront location and a close-knit community of independent-minded individuals, Red Hook fostered an environment that celebrated great food and community spirit.
Beyond their flagship location in Red Hook, Red Hook Lobster Pound has expanded its presence. They established a popular food hall spot in Midtown Manhattan at Urbanspace Vanderbilt and launched the Rockaway Clam Bar at Jacob Riis Beach, in addition to their iconic collab with the hotel.
On the topic of perfect locations, The Park Terrace Hotel served as the ideal spot for the pop-up. Situated in the renowned David Chipperfield-designed building, The Bryant, the Park Terrace Hotel offers more than just a breathtaking view of New York City’s iconic Bryant Park. Nestled within the 15 floors of Chipperfield’s architectural masterpiece, this boutique hotel boasts 226 rooms, each embodying a serene sense of modernity that perfectly complements the vibrant surroundings.
The Terrazzo Lounge, where the celebration took place, encompasses both an indoor bar and an outdoor terrace, providing an ideal setting to relax and indulge while overlooking the architectural grandeur of the nearby New York Public Library. Whether enjoying a well-crafted cocktail, starting the day with a delicious breakfast, or sampling some of New York’s culinary delights curated specifically for the lounge, visitors and guests alike can savor the essence of the city in a remarkable setting.
We highly recommend The Park terrace Hotel and Red Hook Lobster as two of your ideal summer destinations, hear more about them here and here!
