On Thursday, January, 22nd, 2015, the Museum of Modern Art hosted its annual Modern Party in NYC, which brought together hundreds of arts patrons in a celebration of the MoMA and all things art.
One of the best perks of attending the MoMA’s Modern Party is the private access to the entire museum, including the short term exhibits and permanent collection. There’s something perfectly luxurious about being able to spend some alone time with modern art icons like Picasso’s “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” or Gogh’s “Starry Night”. The MoMA allows for this for the Modern Party, transforming its stunningly enormous building into a chic party paradise, dotted with open bars, thumping music, tasteful lighting, and of course, one of the world’s finest art collections ready for eying. The Department of Membership and The Junior Associates host the annual event for MoMA members. It’s a well attended event and great opportunity to network with lovers of the arts, businesspeople, creatives, and more. Of course, the draw of the MoMA itself is nearly irresistible, too.
In part an effort to celebrate the MoMA as an institution, the Modern Party is something of a staple of high social life in NYC, an expected invitation – an assumed appearance. And with the hours 7:30 p.m. -10:30 p.m., the night is far from over, allowing for after-hours fun elsewhere, high on fine art and good drinks. The night affords guests a unique perspective on the MoMA and enhances membership to the premier modern arts museum in the world. Limited to MoMA members only, the party is reflective of MoMA’s diverse enthusiasts, making it a not-to-miss event, and one of many incentives to join MoMA’s membership program, which hosts many events- from parties to lectures, exhibit previews, and interactive programs. We cannot wait for the next one!
