Each year, cardiovascular disease takes the lives of more women than all cancer combined. It’s the leading cause of deaths in women, but the American heart association is determined to reduce these numbers.
The American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign is an annual event held in February, national heart health awareness month, to raise awareness about heart disease and help bring attention to women’s health and wellness. The star studded event features a sea of red dresses and aims to educate women about their risk of heart disease, encourage them to take control of their heart health, and raise funds for research and education. The gorgeous shades of red throughout the night do more than just dazzle, they also symbolize the urgency of the cause. The campaign offers a variety of events, resources, and tools to help women learn about their heart health, including heart disease risk assessments, healthy lifestyle tips, and access to community resources. The goal of the “Go Red for Women” campaign is to empower women to take action and make positive changes for their heart health, ultimately saving lives.
