On October 28 in a beautiful brick store in Soho JackThreads kicked off the beginning of its week long launch party and pop up shop entitled “The Spring” from 10/29-11/12.
Celebrating the “springing” (if you will) of the clothing line JackThreads, it was a pleasure to meet and get the scoop from the creative director Tony Kretten over Dewar’s, beer from Brooklyn Brewery and Momofuku’s greatest creations (including Thai beef jerky, country ham and red eye gravy on a crostini, pastrami beef chicharron with horseradish cream, whipped burrata and black garlic, seasonal pickles pork belly buns and shiitake buns). DJ duo Chances with Wolves had the crowd under their spell. JackThreads CEO Mark Walker was also on the scene.
The location was very consistent with the simple, style, essentials theme. The decor was not too masculine although there was not an ounce of femininity even hidden in the walls. The interior of the shop had neutral colors, while other walls had raw exposed unpainted brick. The stairs were surrounded by large red Stonehenge like pillars descending in to the party area with hanging displays to try clothes on before you buy, bleachers to chat, eat and drink on, while you stare at the DJ or at the large projection of more geometric shapes and salt and pepper colors. The DJ was spinning an interesting mix of old school and today’s pop, and rap, giving you the best of both worlds.

If I had to describe JackThreads I would say they supply elevated basics, for the classic millennia man. You have options for your options even down to layering your insulation with out bulk or compromising warmth. I love the versatility of the Ribbed and cashmere sweatshirts that can be worn from work, to sleep, and pretty much any occasion at affordable prices. The evolution of this brand has grown tee-shirts and street gear to the more versatile man that is looking for that healthy balance of work hard, play hard. What really drove the versatility, and style point home for me, were the two females who modeled a button up shirt, and a cardigan and still looked amazing!
