The anticipated film, Drawn Together, stars Ester Expósito, best known for her role in Élite, and Hugo Diego García, best known for his role in The Substance.
The romantic thriller is based on Mercedes Ron’s bestselling novel, Enfrentados: Marfil. The film explores Marfil Cortés (Ester Expósito), after she is kidnapped, and is unexpectedly set free, leaving questions surrounding what could have happened to her. As the daughter of a Spanish business tycoon, Marfil becomes targeted by a threat, making her father hire a bodyguard to protect her.

Sebastian Moore (Hugo Diego García), Marfil’s newly hired bodyguard, finds himself drawn to Marfil while protecting her. Their tension and chemistry build gradually, creating a slow-burn romance filling scenes with anticipation and emotional depth.
The Knockturnal spoke with Expósito , García and Ron to discuss how the characters built up the physical and emotional connection in the film. Both actors trained and worked together with stunt coordinators and García helped Expósito prepare for the film’s action and boxing scenes.

Marfil is portrayed as smart, confident, and driven. She is trained in ballet, boxing and self-defense and she knows that she wants to live an independent and meaningful life.
Speaking about her connection to Marfil, Expósito shared the similarities between her and her character.
“We both want to find a purpose and a meaning in our lives, and do something important not only for ourselves but for the rest.”
As Sebastian Moore, García had to embrace Sebastian’s serious nature. As the boundaries between Marfil and Sebastian begin to shift while protecting her, the characters slowly fall for each other.
García shared why it was difficult for Sebastian to keep his distance from Marfil.
“It’s classic: duty versus desire or work versus personal life. It’s a classic conflict, and it’s a very interesting one,” García said.

Throughout the film, both characters evolve as they slowly open up to each other. As the story intensifies, themes like protection and trust develop and become increasingly important for Marfil’s safety and relationship with Sebastian
Author Mercedes Ron whose novels are known to have inspired one of Prime Video’s most popular romance adaptation franchises, Culpables continues to bring her stories to the screen.

This time Ron presents a darker story with more action. After working on My Fault, Ron wrote Marfil, which she described as a challenge for her since it was her first adult novel.
When asked, “As a writer how was it writing Marfil and Sebastian’s complicated romance and seeing it come to life,” Ron responded.
“It was going to be more mature, and with a lot of action, the thriller component was 50/50 with romance. It was a challenge but I really enjoyed it. I had to do a lot of research to write the book. In the end I was really proud of how it ended, I’m happy.”
Bringing Ron’s characters to life was the responsibility of Expósito and García. For Ron, watching the filmmaking process meant seeing her characters come to life.
Ron said that scenes in the apartment, the character’s training and the kidnapping scene were especially exciting to witness because they allowed her to see moments from the book come to life.
