With the accomplishments of “Cheerleader” (Felix Jaehn remix) from being #1 on Billboard Hot 100 Chart to several awards this summer, Omi is likely to have major success with his album. He’s easily transcended genre borders with his hit “Cheerleader” receiving tons of air play on both Pop and Rhythm stations and the song became a hit even outside the U.S. including Omi’s native Jamaica, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Speaking about his hit single to Billboard he said that woke up one day with the tune in his head when he was 21, eight years ago. “It was like a little Jamaican nursery rhyme, like ‘one, two, buckle my shoe,’ that kind of thing — ‘ring game’ is what we’d call it. The rest of the song just fell into place like a jigsaw puzzle” With dedication like that he’s not likely to fall back on being a one hit wonder any time soon.
