NYFW: Flying Solo Brings International Style to Soho

While this year’s New York Fashion Week has certainly taken on a different style in and of itself, beloved innovative brand Flying Solo knew how to masterfully pivot.

The SoHo-based Flying Solo expanded into a new, larger flagship store on West Broadway, and it seems things are only looking up for the independent art house. Small brands have no resources to afford standalone stores in areas like SoHo, NYC. They also can no longer afford to do quality large-scale shows on their own,” Managing Director and Co-founder Elizabeth Solomeina stated in a press release.

Thus, the 2021 fashion show carried more weight than usual. “We’ve always represented fearless young brands that are no scared to innovate and understand that a market shift always leads to an opportunity as long as you embrace change,” Solomeina continued. With 83 brands designed by artists from 18 countries, the Flying Solo runway showcase utilized their platform to lift rising stars up.

The rooftop runway featured six shows, with standout looks including a Victorian-inspired gown with floral mesh inserts and flowing ruffled shoulders; a lavender metallic top and matching slit skirt; and a stunning navy peacock printed cape topping a 70s era bell bottom trousers and lightweight white asymmetrical top.

It seems Flying Solo has risen like a phoenix during the pandemic, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
