While this year’s New York Fashion Week has certainly taken on a different style in and of itself, beloved innovative brand Flying Solo knew how to masterfully pivot.
When dealing with a cast of 73 designers, it can seem difficult to nail down exactly what Flying Solo is. In its most basic form, the SoHo based store is a creative space where designers, photographers, stylists, and other members of fashion work together to awaken new ideas and present them in their individual brands. Each label is available to shop at Flying Solo locations and is included in their NYFW presentations.
Flying solo is a retail space located at 434 West Broadway in SoHo with a collaborative approach. We spoke with Co-founder Elizabeth Solomeina about the space and how the concept store came about. Solomeina shared her story as a designer trying to find stockists for her jewelry brand and realized the void in the market for young designers to gain platforms and the story of Flying Solo begun.
