In honor of Martini Month, No.3 London Dry Gin took over Maison Barnes‘ elegant Salon Madeline for a three-day run of their newest experimental program: the Martini Fitting Boutique.

No.3 is celebrating in style. One of the most highly decorated London Dry Gins in the world, No. 3 was crafted to be the martini’s perfect gin. Crafted by master mixologists and Dr. David Clutton (the world’s sole holder of a Ph.D. in Gin), No. 3 achieves unity through simplicity. Distilled with six distinctive botanicals, the spirit balances three defining flavor pillars: juniper, citrus and spice. The result is a unique aromatic blend that has earned No. 3 its impressive docket of international recognition. Though its harmonized notes complement many cocktails, the martini is No. 3’s métier.

The martini possesses a unique allure, with many considering it to be the pinnacle of sleek sophistication. It’s a universal classic that can be customized in seemingly countless ways, giving it the appeal of being both ubiquitous and unique. Yet for many drinkers, the martini remains intimidating. The spirit-forward nature of a “standard” martini and the specific language surrounding customizations are enough to put many off the cocktail entirely.  No. 3 set out to change that.

The Martini Fitting Boutique was designed to demystify the iconic drink. The brand believes that there is a martini for every palate, and created the event to provide the knowledge and experience needed to tailor each guest’s perfect fit. Rather than having guests sample premade variations, the experience encourages stepwise experimentation and discovery. Through an attentive, individual atmosphere, the event ultimately aims to equip the martini-curious with the knowledge and confidence to order their perfect martini anywhere in the world.

Drawing inspiration from the tailoring heritage of No. 3’s home on London’s historic St. James Street, the brand reimagined the traditional bespoke fitting process through the lens of cocktail craftsmanship. Every element of the event emphasizes personalization and demonstrates how even the slightest nuances can dramatically alter the drink.

Led by a dedicated “martini tailor” and a team of expert hosts, the immersive experience blends education, experimentation, and indulgence for a truly one-of-a-kind tasting experience.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a refreshing “martini-spritz.” The lighter, refreshing martini-inspired sip serves as an approachable introduction to the drink’s foundational elements. While enjoying light bites and conversation, attendees settle into an intimate salon as the martini tailor takes the stage.

The experience unfolds into three guided stages. The first focuses on the martini’s core elements: gin and vermouth. Guests sample each ingredient independently, learning how their distinct aromatics, textures, and flavor profiles contribute to the cocktail’s character.

Then comes time to unpack one of the cocktail world’s hottest debates: shaken or stirred?

While often reduced to a matter of preference, the distinction is surprisingly impactful on the character of the final drink. Through side-by-side tastings and a quick lesson on thermodynamics, guests explore how each technique affects dilution, flavor, temperature, and clarity. Most importantly, though, guests can determine which technique aligns with their personal tastes.

The final guided phase covers garnishes. From lemon twists to olives, guests discover how a garnish adds much more than aesthetic flair. Far from an afterthought, garnishes exemplify how even the smallest adjustments shake (or stir) things up dramatically. This stage allows guests to pinpoint those distinctions, noting which tweaks make a martini feel authentically theirs.

With the fundamentals covered, guests are then invited to become their own martini tailor. Equipped with all the necessary materials, attendees are given time to experiment with different ratios, techniques, and garnishes until they land on a recipe uniquely suited to their palate. Finally, guests use their newfound expertise to confidently order a full-sized version of their perfect martini.

For both longtime martini devotees and curious newcomers, No. 3’s Martini Fitting Boutique offers a refreshing reminder that there is no “right” martini- only the one that’s right for you.  The pop-up may have wrapped for now,  but with luck, the Martini Tailor will soon return to help New Yorkers find their perfect fit

As Martini Month continues, cocktail enthusiasts can explore No. 3’s  Martini Map to find standout sips in every city. Stay tuned for future events and brand experiences by visiting No. 3’s website or following their Instagram.
