Held Sunday, February 9th, at Pier 59 Studios in New York City, the Namilia x Pornhub show left audiences in awe as the fashion house showcased their designs on not only professional models, but professional and well-known porn actors as well. Founded in 2015 by Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl, Namilia partnered with Pornhub to bring you this season’s collection, even live-streaming the show directly from Pornhub.
The designers behind Namilia took their personal experiences and channeled their voice into a social commentary that audiences can relate to. This season’s collection, appropriately called “Herotica” included dominatrix themes and intended to show how “women are also interested in porn and sex, but were just excluded in the past,” said Emilia Pfohl to the New York Times. In an interview with i-D, Co-creator Nan Li said “There is such a big taboo around sex in general, and also pornography and sex workers. So we wanted to normalize sex and sex work, and give it a new context with the fashion show.” Every model walking the runway was Asian including Pornhub star Asa Akira. Li went on to explain that he “wanted to showcase Asian pride and Asian empowerment.”
