On Monday, September 9, Mode Suisse presented five top designers from Switzerland for New York Fashion Week.
We had the chance to browse the new collections from DNA: Forbidden Denimeries, Julia Heuer, Vanessa Schindler, Julian Zigerli, and YVY.
DNA: Forbidden Denimeries by Mikael Vilchez features gender neutral clothing and accessories that mostly fall into the denim category. After an inspirational trip to Pantelleria, Vilchez came up with several wrap skirts/shorts with a slightly distressed look, long white vests, denim coded rings, fanny packs, and other accessories.
Julia Heuer’s collection included everyday pieces accessible to the fashionable career woman. The bold and fun colors were a signature throughout the line starting with a form fitting, orange two piece, to a sheer, loose fitting two-piece. Most designs seemed to be wrinkle-free and showcased a bright and energetic aesthetic.
Vanessa Schindler paired custom shaped accessories—brown, cream, link, and yellow—with several sheer, neutral toned cover-ups. There was also a stand-alone piece with 3-D fixtures. This fixture was a brown, high neck dress, centered with holes, falling to the ankles. Other dresses were decorated with bead designs.
Julian Zigerli presented more of a casual collection fit with one-piece suits in black and pink. Other pieces were more sporty, made of cotton and linen material. The collection was mostly solid colors except for a stand-alone set in the gray, black, and white color scheme with unique floral designs.
YVY presented leather accessories, bralettes, belts, bandanas, crossbody purses, duffle purses and hats. The pieces could be worn in a number of flexible ways and were paired with mesh and white tops to break up the monotony of the leather
