On Wednesday, July 13th, Matiere presented their Spring/Summer 2017 collection titled “The Dead Sea Collection”
We started off the show behind-the-scenes with AXE hair to get a better understanding of the look. The look was a side-swept side part using Axe products such as the Messy Look Paste for a groomed hair style with a slight edge.

Founder Scot Schandalove was a Deadhead in the late 80s and found himself creating and selling tye dye graphic tees out of his car as a means to make money. His Grateful Dead experiences inspired the collection’s fabric treatments from dip dyes and enzyme washes to overdyes and pigment sprays. The designs are influenced by classic mariner workwear and incorporates pieces such as cargo pockets, linen pants, and drawstring hems.
The collection also features a variety of fabrics such as Japanese raw silk, waterproof nylon, cotton crepe and a viscose-cotton blend. The color palette is reminiscent of the colors present in the historic port of San Francisco. The collection has a variety of blue and green hues along with pops of crimson.
