For 2016’s Men’s Fashion Week, we started at Industria Superstudios in the Meatpacking District, NYC and saw the small but high-quality Matiere presentation. It’s part of New York Men’s Day, brought to you by Cadillac. Take a peek at our thoughts on Matiere ‘s Fall/Winter 2016 collection!
The Matiere collection for fall/winter 2016 was ambitious, expensive-looking, but not without looking a
little scatterbrained. Look, we get it; plaid is so in for winter. Tried and tested, the aesthetic is charming (if not a bit over-played at this point) but without a doubt we feel confident that Matiere could have gone without the plaid. That said, sometimes, when the whether gets chilly, one is willing to forgo style for comfort. Let’s give the designers the benefit of the doubt considering leisure has always been in the brand DNA. Here we see sprinklings of red here and there, nylon fabrics, even some mohair (to excess; its a sweater). Sealed zippers, approachable coats and more topped off a small but appealing collection. Word to the wise, let plaid go.
