Made in NY Celebrates 50th Anniversary Inspired by TV Land’s ‘Younger’

On Thursday, January 26, Made in NY celebrated its 50th anniversary with a fashion show inspired by TV Land’s “Younger” at Macy’s Herald Square.

Thursday’s runway show was curated and styled entirely by iconic costume designers Patricia Field and Jacqueline Demeterio. Field is most notable for her work with hit show Sex and City, as well Ugly Betty, and The Devil Wears Prada. All of the looks were broken down by characters that make up Younger – a popular TV Land series starring Sutton Foster as the lead character, with co-stars Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, and Miriam Shor, to name a few.

The show occurred in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, also known as Made in NY. The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) is comprised of two divisions. The Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, for example, encompasses film, television, radio, theatre, music, advertising, publishing, digital content and real estate as it relates to the creation of creative content. It serves as a one-stop shop for the entertainment industry, which has seen explosive growth over the last year in New York City, contributing nearly $9 billion and over 130,000 jobs. The Agency also oversees NYC Media, the City’s official broadcast network and media production group, which has a reach of over 18 million people and provides programming for six local cable stations, including award-winning programs on the popular NYC Life (channel 25), as well as one radio station.

Essentially, Made in New York: Fashion serves as an anchor for all facets of the city’s fashion landscape in order to strengthen its sense of community.

Overall, the fashion show was a success and brought together a talented and inspiring group of individuals.
