Atlanta’s annual One Music Fest kicked off last weekend on October 9th and this year was special because it was the festival’s 11th anniversary.
The COVID-19 pandemic affected artists everywhere and concerts and festivals were halted indefinitely, but as things begin to go back to normal, live shows are quickly making a comeback. One Music Fest has partnered with Live Nation, Toyota and LL Cool J’s ‘Rock the Bells’ powered by Sprite, to bring an action packed 2-day festival filled with music, food and culture.
The fall weather was perfect for the festival weekend as thousands gathered inside the city’s famous Centennial Olympic Park, home to the 1996 Summer Olympics. With 3 stages, dozens of food and cocktail vendors and radio stations, there was lots to do and even more to see.
The extensive lineup offered something for everyone, from performances by R&B supergroup SWV and Lucky Daye to a nostalgic college homecoming set including a reunion from Atlanta rap groups Crime Mob and Travis Porter. Other artists included Young Dro, Too $hort, Ty Dolla $ign and Ari Lennox. Saturday night closed out with a striking performance by the festival’s headliner H.E.R performing hits like “Best Part” and “Damage.”
Jacquees, Big Boi, Masego, French Montana, The Lox and Mario were among the performers set to hit the stage on Sunday, as well as legendary soul group The Isley Brothers and Gospel powerhouse Kirk Franklin. Lil Wayne wrapped up the night with a medley of hits from his lengthy discography including “Lollipop,” “John” and “6 Foot 7 Foot”.
