Pantene’s Abundant & Strong Collection Proves You Don’t Need Luxury Prices for Healthy Hair

by Branda Ayo January 20, 2026
written by Branda Ayo

For many people, the start of a new year usually comes with setting goals and hoping to follow them through, some practical, others more lofty than others. With hair being such a big part of many people’s overall confidence, it’s no surprise that hair health is just as important.

In their most recent collection, Pantene dug deep to better understand the top indicators behind hair loss and boiled it down to four key factors, one of the most overlooked being scalp oxidative stress. According to the brand, everyday exposure to things like pollution, UV rays, and even internal stress can weaken the scalp’s ability to hold onto hair at the root, leading to increased shedding over time.

To address that, Pantene introduced its new Abundant & Strong Collection, a three-step system designed to reduce hair loss by up to 85% while supporting stronger, denser hair in as little as six weeks. According to Pantene’s clinical testing, the Abundant & Strong system is designed to support hair retention at the root, with users seeing measurable changes over time rather than overnight. In studies highlighted by the brand, 77% of participants reported less hair loss after four weeks, while over 85% noticed increased hair density after six weeks. By the eight-week mark, the system helped retain 6,000 more strands at the root.

At a recent panel discussion, The Knockturnal sat down with Pantene’s experts to break down the science behind shedding versus breakage, why stress plays such a big role in hair health, and how this collection was tested across different hair types and textures.

This interview has been edited for concision and clarity.

The Knockturnal:
I love that. As you were talking, I kept thinking about how doctors say the best form of medicine is preventative care. This feels like being proactive instead of waiting for a problem to show up. The through line is that we all experience stress, and stress is one of the top causes of hair issues. The fact that you grounded this product in research and insight is really powerful.

And how many times do people say, “Oh, my hair is shedding,” and then spiral? Instead of spiraling, we should focus on addressing oxidative stress. Let’s find a solution instead of stressing ourselves out more.

I’m also curious. We touched on this earlier. How did you test this line across different hair types and textures, especially highly textured hair and protective styles? Shrinkage alone can make it hard to even assess length or growth.

Panelist:
Yeah, so during our research, we tested across a wide range of hair types. One of the great things about the technology Dr. Ginny uses is that it allows us to look directly at the hair at the follicle level—specifically the crown and root—without requiring the hair to be straightened or blow-dried.

To ensure consistency, test subjects actually had a small tattoo marking the exact area of the scalp being measured so we could analyze the same spot over time. That allowed us to get really accurate data.

The Knockturnal:
Wow, that’s really robust.

Panelist:
Yeah, and it’s been really exciting to see this product come to life. Hair care has come such a long way from 2010 to now, especially. It’s no longer just about cranking out products. There’s so much intentionality behind every layer—from the scalp to a single strand of hair, all the way to how people actually experience the product. We even saw trial participants talking about their experience on social media, saying things like, “I was part of this study.” It’s really cool to see people feel included in the process.

The Knockturnal:
Totally. And I love that you all emphasize routine and long-term care. This product is a solution, but it takes time and consistency. Sometimes people see claims and expect instant results, but even the studies show that change takes time.

Panelist:
Exactly. That’s why we guide people through what to expect at one week, two weeks, four weeks, six weeks, and eight weeks so they can track progress. It’s not one big magical moment. At eight weeks, you might notice something subtle, but at least you know where you are on the journey. That helps with motivation and consistency.

The Knockturnal:
That’s really great! Thanks again for taking the time to discuss this latest launch.

Beyond the I Love NY T-Shirt – Top Tier New York City Swag

by Lauren Wire December 22, 2025
written by Lauren Wire

I’ve lived in New York City for over a decade, but like everyone else, I started out here as a tourist. I’ve bought the obvious souvenirs, the disappointing ones, and a few things I still wonder why I ever carried home. Somewhere between then and now — after years of living here and scrolling past accounts like @WhatIsNewYork, @SubwayCreatures, and @NewYorkers — I learned what actually feels like New York. The city has a very specific energy, and not every product gets it right. Some gifts feel lazy. Others feel spot-on. This guide is a curated mix of the ones that work — the New York–coded finds that go beyond the basics and are actually worth buying, gifting, and keeping.

A Nordic Reset at NRTHRN Strong with GoingDry.co

by Tristen Yang December 15, 2025
written by Tristen Yang

On Wednesday night, GoingDry.co celebrated the close of  2025 with a Nordic-inspired recalibration. Inside NRTHRN Strong’s Flatiron studio, guests gathered for a low-impact, full-body workout rooted in Nordic movement principles, followed by nonalcoholic cocktails and herbal-forward bites that extended the experience beyond fitness.

NRTHRN Strong is a studio that highlights restraint: clean lines, reflective surfaces, soft blue lighting, and a deliberate focus on breath-led strength. The atmosphere felt transporting without tipping into discomfort. The room glowed cool and calm, a stark contrast to the red-lit intensity that defines so many boutique studios in the city. The workout alternated between time on the studio’s custom ski machines and functional work off the platform, targeting the abs, glutes, and lower body with resistance bands and dumbbells through seamless transitions.

Coach Tyler, who led the class, embodied that same sensibility. A steady guide, he moved easily between instruction and encouragement. The class opened with long, grounding inhales and simple coordination drills that gradually built into a series of movements inspired by cross-country skiing. Instead of sprints or circuits, we moved in rhythmic glides that mimicked ski strides, switching between balance holds, diagonal reaches, and sliding lunges. It looked calm at first, but by halfway through the workout, everyone’s pulse had clearly quickened, and the room glistened with sweat.

One moment we were driving through a controlled ski interval; the next, we were grounded on the floor, working through slow, deliberate core sequences or banded leg work designed to stabilize the hips and protect the joints. Low-impact movements didn’t feel like low effort, but rather a shift toward efficiency. Each movement recruited multiple muscle groups while minimizing unnecessary strain, particularly on the knees and lower back. The rhythm and retraction of the ski poles kept you focused, with breath acting as the anchor. Ultimately, the class felt disciplined and balanced, immersive and energizing, built for endurance rather than aesthetics.

After class, the experience shifted naturally into recovery and connection. Tables were laid with healthy bites like roasted eggplant and tomato crostini, cauliflower bites, and other warm, plant-forward snacks provided from Breads Bakery. Alongside them, nonalcoholic cocktails were poured featuring herbal tinctures from WishGarden Herbs, a leading liquid herbal supplement brand of plant-powered formulas.

The mocktails were customized with tinctures tailored to specific needs. Fruity spritzes were paired with immune-support herbs. A ginger-forward tonic offered warmth and balance, while a softer botanical blend leaned calming and aromatic. We opted for an immune activator with respiratory and immune supporting herbs like Elderflower, Baptisia Root, and Yerba Santa leaf. The drinks were functional and well-balanced, designed to complement the physical work while supporting recovery and a lifestyle built for endurance in New York City.

The Nordic influence carried through to the locker rooms, which featured Dyson hair dryers and a Swedish skincare line rooted in organic botanicals and minimalist formulations. The experience felt holistic in movement, nourishment, and recovery.

The event marked the final GoingDry.co gathering of the year, curated by founder and author Hilary Sheinbaum, whose work has reframed sobriety and mindful consumption as lifestyle choices rather than restrictions. Through her books The Dry Challenge and Going Dry: A Workbook, she has built a community that values balance, presence, and sustainability. Together, the workout and the herbal cocktails explored what a healthier lifestyle can look like in New York, prioritizing social rituals that leave you clear-headed rather than depleted.
