Missing some color in your life? The world’s largest paint party Life in Color brought some incredible DJs including Destructo to Governor’s Island this past Sunday, June 3rd.

This mind blowing music festival started at 4 p.m. One could feel the energy of the people even before taking the ferry to land on this little piece of earth just off Manhattan. The rows of ravers were chanting as they were getting on the ferry, all the way to the island. At 4:00 p.m., we heard the opening act, which warmed people up as they were coming in.

The vibes of this place were great, some sand, the view of the Big Apple and a good EDM stage with the head of a tiger lit up in the background.

At 5 p.m., Prince Fox came on and the true rave began. By this point the concert space was more than half filled. Every 30 minutes more ferries came bringing more and more people.

All wearing white and ready to get some paint thrown at them, ravers were having a blast as they pumped their fists and danced along to the music.

Prince Fox’s set was nothing less than awesome playing some unreleased songs as well as throw backs like Britney Spears as he added his own twist.

At 6:00 p.m. came SNBRN, who brought a heavier dance vibe to the scene. He played his hits, such as “Raindrops” to which the crowd reacted energetically as well as some old school R&B.

The crowd was wearing either all white or celebratory clothes for the 4th of July. Some had flags up in the air, decorative make up or just full on flag pattern shirts and pants. And of course, one attendee was dressed in a banana costume.

With DJ Party Favor came the first round of paint splashing on the audience. Two guests were invited to walk in front of the first row and drench one lucky person in a whole pint of blue paint!

After Party Favor came NGHTMRE. As his sick beats rocked the venue and smoke was dispersed from the stage, dancers dressed in crazy colorful costumes and big cubic masks took a hose and began to spray the crowd, which was shouting and hoping they’d get to be showered with paint.

With half of the audience drenched in blue and pink paint, it was time for Destructo to take the stage. Wearing a black cap, a black bomber jacket, and white t-shirt, Destructo delivered some of his hits including “Dare You 2 Move” ft. Problem, “Party Up” amongst others. The dancers came out again during his killer set to finish showering the crowds with purple and pink paint, no one was safe from it now.

As Destructo fan enjoyed the mixes and the drops, the most beautiful sunset was taking place in the back, to which he pointed out during his time performance. It made the time there even more magical and the crowd more enthusiastic. Playing some old hits and new, Destructo delighted us with the needed energy and tunes, which combined with the paint showers, the roaring of the crowd, the fist pumps and the dancing made for a perfect rave! During his set, he came down and interacted with the crowd. Destructo left everyone pleased and welcomed W&W to take the stage.

Invited by the river breeze, the duo came out and gave an excellent performance. We could not help ourselves from dancing and smiling as they mixed. With the combination of the light strokes, the stage smoke and the now illuminated tiger in the back, W&W closed the festival with the perfect finale at 12 a.m.
