As a leading figure in Hollywood, Lana Condor is a driving force for sustainability in the entertainment industry.

Lana Condor is leading the charge for a greener Hollywood. Her recent partnership with 3M on the docuseries Green Works further solidifies her commitment to environmental causes. The docuseries, which follows five individuals making a significant impact on sustainability, aligns perfectly with Condor’s passion for preserving our planet. “It is so cool to see a company like 3M, who is so solid in this space, wanting to create art that promotes a better world,” Condor shares. “It felt that it was a natural fit for me to get involved with 3M’s docuseries.”

As a vocal advocate for environmental causes, Lana Condor has consistently used her platform to raise awareness and inspire action. Her recent partnership with 3M on the docuseries Green Works is a testament to her unwavering commitment. This groundbreaking series shines a spotlight on individuals who are actively working to address climate challenges and promote a more sustainable future. It explores the diverse range of green jobs available, from renewable energy and electric vehicles to climate education and sustainable fashion. For those unfamiliar with the concept, Condor offers a concise definition.

“A green job is simply a job that highlights preserving, protecting, and restoring within your industry.”

During our conversation, Condor offered valuable insights into how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future. Condor emphasized that individuals, regardless of their industry, can play a crucial role by exploring green job opportunities within their field. As she put it, “The answer is not what more people can do; Rather, it’s learning that the individual, no matter what industry they are a part of, always has the opportunity for green jobs within the current industry they are working in.”

On set, Condor is a champion of sustainable practices. She actively seeks ways to reduce waste and promote ethical choices, even in the often fast-paced and demanding environment of television and film production. One of her primary strategies is to minimize the use of single-use items. Beyond waste reduction, Condor is also committed to promoting ethical sourcing. She ensures that her hair and makeup teams are using cruelty-free and vegan products, contributing to a more sustainable and compassionate supply chain. By prioritizing ethical brands, Condor is driving positive change within the industry.

“For me, how can I make my job greener? Well, I can go in to set everyday and I go into hair and makeup, and I can bring cruelty free, vegan free products. I can bring products that are sustainable with me. I can bring a reusable water bottle. I can make sure that I am not making a mass amount of waste. Those are ways I can bring sustainable practices into the job I currently have.”

When recalling a time where sustainability met the silver screen, a personal experience with James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez further solidified Condor’s belief in the power of sustainable practices on set. During a memorable collaboration, the renowned directors took a proactive approach to sustainability.”Before we started filming, they said to us, ‘There will be no plastic on set,” Condor recalls. “So if you want water, you have to bring a reusable water bottle.” This simple yet impactful decision had a ripple effect throughout the production. By eliminating single-use plastic, Cameron and Rodriguez not only reduced waste but also set a positive example for the entire crew. Condor was inspired by their commitment to sustainability and witnessed firsthand the positive impact it could have on a film set.

As Lana Condor continues to push boundaries, she is expanding her horizons and taking on new challenges in her career. Alongside “Outer Banks” actor Chase Stokes, Condor will be starring in “Valient One”, an upcoming American thriller film directed by Steve Barnett set to release next year. Another one of her upcoming projects that has been making headlines is “Ballerina Overdrive”, which Condor is currently filming in Budapest. When asked if she could tease anything about the upcoming film, she excitedly said, “We’re trying to make the best action film out there, and do it with ballerinas. It’s probably one of my favorite projects I’ve ever gotten to work on.” As she continues to evolve as an actress, Condor is eager to challenge herself and defy expectations. Her upcoming projects are a testament to her ambition and versatility.

“When I dream about the career that I want, I really want to be able to do every genre and do it successfully. I really don’t want to be put into one specific box.”

While Condor’s acting career continues to flourish, her commitment to sustainability remains constant. Her advocacy serves as a powerful example for the entertainment industry and beyond, as her efforts highlight the potential for individuals to make a positive impact on their industry. By incorporating sustainable practices into her work and personal life, including her partnership with 3M’s docuseries “Green Works”, Condor is helping to redefine what it means to be a responsible and influential celebrity.

Lana Condor is illuminating a path towards a greener future, urging others to be a part of the change. Her partnership with 3M and “Green Works” underscores the potential for the entertainment industry to inspire and encourage other companies to adopt sustainable practices.

“I hope that other companies will see what 3M is doing and take those efforts and hopefully it will become this amazing domino effect of practicing sustainability.”

“Green Works” will premiere at the 2024 Fast Company Innovation Festival on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in New York City, and the docuseries will be released via video-on-demand on AppleTV and GooglePlay
