The cast and crew of Quibi’s all-new series The Fugitive sat down last night for a live Q&A to talk all about the hit show.
Starring Boyd Holbrook and Kiefer Sutherland as Mike Ferro and Detective Clay Bryce, its star-studded and incredibly talented cast also includes series stars Natalie Martinez, Tiya Sircar, and Genesis Rodriguez, along with Director Stephen Hopkins and Executive Producer Nick Santora.
The event also welcomed some incredible VIP guests to enjoy the show, including Angela Bassett & Courtney B. Vance, Andy Muschietti, Iliza Shlesinger, Hannah Simone, Yvette Nicole Brown, Colin Ford, AnnaSophia Robb, Sean Baker, Doug Benson, Dexter Darden. The VIP’s were granted access to an early screener of the first four episodes to enjoy, alongside a special gift which included a Fugitive backpack, aviator sunglasses and baseball cap. All of these were nods to the series. They also revived some treats to enjoy while they watched, these included beer, burgers, and movie snacks.
The series, directed by Stephen Hopkins, is an action thriller that serves as an update on the 1963 television series and the 1993 film, both of the same name, adapted for Quibi and it’s viewers by Nick Santora. When Keifer Sutherland was asked about the decision to take the role and work with Stephen Hopkins again after shooting “24” together, he had nothing but positive things to say about the experience. He said, “Stephen and I worked together on the first season of “24”. He called me with this, said ‘I’d like you to have a look at it,’ and I fell in love with it. In fact, one of my favorite moments and I promise you this does not happen often, I called Stephen the next day and said ‘I would love to do it’ and he said ‘Ok, great, well I’ll call you tomorrow and we’ll go over whatever your notes are,’ and I said, ‘I don’t have any notes. I love it. It’s perfect just the way it is.’ He said, ‘Well I’ve got a couple,’ and I said, ‘Well don’t mess with my stuff!’ (laughs) and he kept mostly true to his word.”
Action series are no joke physically, as one can imagine. When Boyd Holbrook was asked about how physically challenging it was to make the series, he said, “I wish I could say that it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done because I literally probably ran a marathon making this series, but it was a blast, you know, I actually love long days. I love the intensity.”
And when Keifer was asked about his favorite moment from the first four episodes, he said, “I actually like, for my character, I love the scene – the very opening…Other than that, anything I got to watch Boyd run in. (cast laughs) Because, you know, I did ten years on “24” and I know what it’s like and this time I got to sit in the car with a soda and some Funions and I just watched that poor boy run mile after mile and it made my day! (laughs).”
