Seinfeld’s annual luncheon celebrated fathers in need working to be active fathers.
On Wednesday, April 20, Jerry Seinfeld hosted the GOOD+ Foundation’s second annual Los Angeles Fatherhood Initiative Lunch at the Palm Restaurant in Beverly Hills. The event raised nearly $200,000 to support the Foundation’s work with fathers in need.
The host described how many fathers who seek help from the Children’s Institute don’t have the resources to create the best environment for their families. With the donations from the GOOD+ Foundation, they are able to provide for their families and get the long term support needed to help lift the family out of poverty.
While addressing the guests, Jerry Seinfeld said: “When we heard that 63% of the families we serve are led by single mothers, we realized we needed to address the missing component – the fathers. They are an important piece of the puzzle to help prevent the cycle of absent fathers from perpetuating. While women are naturally disposed to communicating with each other, men are not. A gigantic hurdle is encouraging these men talk to each other, share their stories and realize they are not alone.”
Founded by Jessica Seinfeld, GOOD+ Foundation (formerly Baby Buggy) is a nonprofit organization that partners with a national network of leading programs to break the cycle of family poverty through the power of donated children’s products and life-changing family services.
