On Friday night, Samsung invited multi-platinum award winning singer, songwriter, and dancer Jason Derulo to close the Made for Summer Live at 837 series.
We were invited to the main stage to experience the last Made for Summer event up close and in color. The venue, located on the lower floor, was surrounded by fans on the upper levels awaiting the idol. Meanwhile VIP guests prepared for the mini concert with access to an open bar serving Heineken and Rosé. Hors d’oeuvres included petit falafel burgers with Tahini spiced Mayo and cucumber yogurt slaw; poached shrimp cocktails with avocado puree, cherry tomatoes, and cilantro in tortilla; crispy chicken bites with celery and bleu cheese; and pastrami tacos.
At 9:30, a live band and dancers introduced Derulo as lights centered the singer on the main stage. The concert list consisted of hits like “Swalla”, which recently topped worldwide charts among others like “W2WM”, “Trumpets”, “Watcha Say”, “Wiggle”, “Don’t Wanna Go Home”, “In My Head”, “Other Side”, and “Talk Dirty”. The concert list expressed his wide array of emotions in his music from dance to emotional, like the 2010 hit, “Riding Solo”, about realizing oneself when single. Derulo also shared his new single “If I’m Lucky” about reconnecting with a former lover in the afterlife which was released on the same day. The whole venue sung along to the singer’s hits, echoing throughout the room before Derulo closed off by thanking everyone who listen to his music and contributed to his success.
Jason Derulo’s newest album, 777, will be released early next year.
