Who shot ya? That has been the ongoing question running through the minds of friends, family members and of course fans of the late Christopher Wallace and Tupac Shakur for two decades now.
Finally fans may be getting some answers to these unsolved murders in USA Network’s upcoming true crime series, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac & The Notorious B.I.G. The limited series, which premieres on Thursday, February 27 at 10/9c., chronicles the dual police investigations of Detective Greg Kading (Josh Duhamel) and Detective Russell Poole (Jimmi Simpson) into the controversial murders of two of the rap industry’s most legendary players, Tupac Shakur (Marcc Rose) and Christopher Wallace, AKA The Notorious B.I.G. (Wavyy Jonez). The series goes beyond the headlines to explore the complicated friendship between these two icons, delving into a culture that both defined them and was forever changed in the wake of their untimely deaths. In seeking the truth behind the conspiracies, the one question that begs to be answered is: how can a case this famous still be unsolved? The ten-episode series is executive produced by Anthony Hemingway (Underground, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) along with creator Kyle Long. I for one will be tuning in every week to try to piece together the clues of these tragic murders!
As Tupac said, “Califonia knows how to party,” so of course there was an epic party to celebrate the premiere of Unsolved at one of the hottest and historic venues in Hollywood, Avalon. The event did not disappoint! Numerous Hollywood stars came out to show their support including Tupac’s brother, Mopreme Shakur, Busta Rhymes, Regina King, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Christopher Meloni, Pooch Hall, Amirah Vann, Kate Flannery, Zonnique, the cast and so many more!
Guests entered Avalon while old school tunes from Tupac and Biggie filled the room which immediately set the vibe and tone of the night. The walls were decorated with famous photos of Tupac and Biggie remade with the actors of the show, paying homage to these young legends. And it wouldn’t be a complete LA party without a photo booth and delicious food and drinks to sip and munch on while guests enjoyed the first episode of the show. The night didn’t end there, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony as well as Busta Rhymes performed their classic songs that had everyone dancing and singing along and they paid tribute to Eazy E, Biggie Smalls and Tupac. Busta Rhymes pulled Mopreme Shakur on stage as we all took a moment of silence to remember these artists that will forever be loved by millions and whose legacy will never die.
