Imagine a celebrity chef preparing a private dinner for you, while you sip on a fresh Dirty Martini in hand, in a $20 million apartment in New York City. On Wednesday, January 24, the lucky winner of Tanqueray’s Damn Fancy Dinner Sweepstakes got to immerse in that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
A few months ago, Tanqueray announced a giveaway, where an individual and their plus twos would be flown to NYC for an extraordinary dinner, provided with dishes curated by Chef Eric Adjepong.
Christina Choi, Senior Vice President of Gin, Tequila, and Breakout Growth Brands at DIAGEO North America, said that the purpose of “Damn Fancy” was “to inspire people to believe that more moments deserve a touch of fancy” and “that Tanqueray can make any moment special.”
Adjepong, a New York City native and finalist of Top Chef: Kentucky Season 16, was ecstatic to be partnering with the gin company, as he’s “a long-time gin lover,” and he has always valued the “intrinsic ingredients and flavor profile of Tanqueray.” While the preparations for the lucky winner’s dinner have been kept mostly private, Adjepong hinted that he planned to take on some familiar dishes, such as bisque and steak frites, and elevate them, possibly ending the night with a fruity Tanqueray pudding.
Tanqueray hosted an exclusive cocktail party, where The Knockturnal was invited to delight in signature drinks and sophisticated hor d’oeuvres while getting a sneak-peak at the winner’s “Damn Fancy” dinner.
The event took place in a spectacular six-story brownstone in Greenwich Village. The space was decorated to perfection, with neon green lights (themed according to the Tanqueray’s classic color), and a lavish bar that was elegantly littered with stunning Tanqueray liquor bottles and roses. Divine French 75s, Sevilla Negronis, and Dirty and Dry Martinis were served, all including luxurious ingredients like brandied cherry juice and unique touches like olive brine foam.
While guests mingled with each other and enjoyed the electric atmosphere, lamb kofta, brie vol au vents, and other tasty bites were served. Chef Adjepong was on-site during the party, ensuring a flawless evening and chatting with attendees.
From the drinks to the food, to the company, you could say that the experience did indeed feel “Damn Fancy,” and we know Tanqueray saved the best for their special guests of the night.
