The beats and bling were out on stylish display this weekend to honor the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop.
On Tuesday, August 8th, Park Lane New York kick-started a week of epic celebrations with the opening party at Darling, the hotel’s grand rooftop bar located on the 47th floor. The night was a bevy of bliss with a specialty cocktail menu, courtesy of Hennessy and a thrilling vinyl-only set by internationally renowned DJ, record producer and radio personality Stretch Armstrong.
This was the kind of magical night that represents the power of New York City and a time-honored respect for the legacy of Hip-Hop. Hennessy cocktails inspired by the history were specially crafted for the occasion, and included The Big Apple and Hennessy Honey. A selection of Darling’s delicious bar bites were served also served and including crisp chicken sliders with house-made pickle and chipotle mayo, and vegetable spring rolls with thai chili water.
Notable guests took in the stunning view of Central Park as Stretch Armstrong took to the decks to spin samples of Hip-Hop classics. The likes of C.J. Wallace, Todd Russaw, Dorinda Medley, Theodora Richards, Prince Hakim Bell, Tom Silverman, Masha Orlov, Phillip Bloch, WAYV, Ania Chiz, Scott Buccheit and Frederick Anderson danced the night away.
“Humbled to be in New York City for this epic celebration of 50 years of Hip-Hop,” stated Russaw.
And luckily, the fun continues. Celebrations continue throughout the week, with a line-up of vinyl-only DJs, and bespoke Hennessy drinks including an Uptown Sidecar and West Coast Sour.
